Javier Saviola spoke about the current Argentina national team, hearing about Lionel Messi when he was at Barcelona and Lionel Scaloni.
Saviola was part of the 2006 Argentina World Cup team where he played alongside both Scaloni and Messi. Now in coach, Saviola spoke about when he was at Barcelona and heard about Messi. Speaking with Radioestadio Noche, here is what he had to say:
“When I arrived in Barcelona, Carles Rexach kept telling me that I had to go and see a youngster from the youth academy who was one of the best. It was Leo Messi.”
When asked about current Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni:
“Scaloni was tremendous. How he changed the face of the Argentina national team. He gave them balance, football and confidence. He is making history and he is one of the greatest coaches our football has ever had.”
In regards to which team was better, Lionel Messi’s Barcelona team or the current Argentina team:
“Leo’s Barça or this Argentina? I think that Barcelona has no comparison whatsoever, it will never exist again. Although this Argentina is playing very well and putting on a show, but to match that Barça…”
