Thiago Almada spoke about the team qualifying for the Olympic games and Lionel Messi possibly being in Paris with the team.

Almada captained the Argentina team in their 1-0 win vs. Brazil and their qualification to the Olympics. Speaking to DSports, here is what Almada had to say:

“I am very happy for the group and the coaching staff, they deserve it. We showed that we were better throughout the tournament, always surpassing our opponent.

“We have time to train and to continue to improve for the Olympic games. Today, they only came at us twice, we played a great match.

“I hope Messi has the desire and can be at the Olympic games, it would be a dream. If Messi comes, I’ll give him the captain’s armband, obviously. Now they are the ones who have to decide if they come.”

  1. Please no, give a rest finally to Messi, he will be 37, Copa is more than enough. Nothing to win for him, only to lose, he is already an Olympics champion and ARG have abundance of young attacking players: Garnacho, Soule, Buonanotte, Paz, Carboni, Almada, Echeverri, Mastantouno, Zeballos, Velasco, Aguirre etc.

    • I don’t think masch going to select him ahead of Soule or Paz. But it depends on how he play next 4 month.. he played 2 good games. In 3rd game he was on bench..
