Paulo Gazzaniga saved three penalties for Girona in their 2-1 win against Athletic Club on matchday 9 of La Liga.
In the 27th minute, the 32-year-old goalkeeper saved a penalty from Álex Berenguer, diving to his left to keep the score tied at 0-0.
In the 57th minute, with the score level at 1-1, the Argentine saved another penalty, this time from Iñaki Williams. However, VAR requested that the penalty be retaken due to encroachment. Athletic Club changed the taker, and Ander Herrera stepped up. His shot went low and down the middle, but Gazzaniga saved it with his legs.
Girona ended up winning the game 2-1 in the ninth minute of added time.
Earlier in the week, Gazzaniga had also saved a penalty against Feyenoord in the UEFA Champions League. Without a doubt, the Argentine is establishing himself as a penalty-saving specialist.
