Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni spoke with host Alejandro Fantino for Neura Media and commented on Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, Nico Paz and the possibility of coaching a club in the future.

Reflecting on his first contact with Messi as an interim coach, he said:

“When Pablo [Aimar] and I were interim coaches, we called Messi over video to explain our vision. He was happy, especially because he has a lot of respect for Pablo. We told him we wanted him with us for those six games, that we were creating the right conditions for him, even though he didn’t know if he would return.”

On Paulo Dybala, Scaloni commented:

“My son loves Dybala. He celebrates goals like him and imitates him. I see it all the time.”

Talking about his approach to young players like Nico Paz, he mentioned:

“We told Nico, ‘Go out and do what you know. If you make mistakes, it’s no problem.’ Every new kid has to sing; they made Nico get on a table, and Garnacho too. This helps the group accept them and makes them feel at ease. The strength of the Argentina squad is in the group.”

Regarding his future in coaching, the Albiceleste coach said,

“The day I’m no longer with the national team, I’m open to coaching any club. People always link me to Boca… but my kids are River fans.”

  1. I hope Messi atleast accept to return to Europe to keep him in good form before world cup 2026. Inter Miami are bang average and will be destroyed at the club world cup; their defense is horrendous, busquet is great but age finally caught with him. Suarez good friends with Messi but a liability as always when finishing.

  2. Bounonute made a wonderfull pass to create the striker spoiled it but nobody from commentary team put a praise or said his name even
They hate to see argentine youngsters shining they cant diggest the era of 2008-10 where young messi, aguero, higuin, dimarria all been news headlines

  3. Miami shot themselves in BOTH feet repeatedly, they score and then let ATLU score 2 quick goals within 2 mins or less. Messi scores on a spectacular header and they let them score again!!!! nm Brad AKA Wolverine from X-Men stopping everything in site and I mean everything, BTW he’s the same GK that Messi scored against in the 2016 COPA on that ridiculous perfect 90 degree angle FK.

    • Inter Miami was always an average team until Messi’s arrival. Most star players are over 36; you expect them to be overrun by younger players. But that defense is way worse than any European league B team.

    • Inter Miami’s weakness is Suarez and Rojas in this match and the last. But above all Guzon is having a performance of his life. He is brilliance. He has overshadowed the goat. That’s a reality.

    • Messi had an okay game, was dispossed few times and many mis passes but Atlanta’s goal keeper again had another great match! Inter Miami’s goalkeeper and defense are down right 4th tier league level!
