Argentina’s U-17 team, coached by Diego Placente, will play against Belgium, Tunisia, and Fiji in Group D of the FIFA U-17 World Cup. The tournament will take place in Qatar from November 5 to 27.
This year’s World Cup will have a new format. For the first time, 48 teams will take part, split into 12 groups of four. The top two teams from each group, plus the eight best third-place teams, will move on to the next round. After that, it will be a knockout stage.
Argentina qualified by winning a playoff match 2-0 against Bolivia in the South American Championship. They had earlier lost to Colombia, which kept them out of the semifinals. In their last game, they drew with Paraguay and lost on penalties in the match for fifth place.
