Argentina to finish South American World Cup qualifiers in first place

Argentina will finish the South American World Cup qualifiers in first place.

The Argentina national team won 1-0 against Chile on Thursday to extend their first place lead. Already qualified for the World Cup, Argentina are now on 34 points and Ecuador, who drew against Brazil, are in second place along with Paraguay on 24 hours.

Lionel Scaloni’s team will play Colombia on Tuesday and they are on 20 points. With three matches remaining in the qualifiers, the 10 point difference between Argentina and the second place teams means that even if Argentina were to lose all three of their remaining matches, they will remain first in the standings.

  1. Since the beginning of 2021, when Scaloneta started to click with Emi and Cuti, we have scored the first goal in 46/49 competitive matches, absolute crazy stat, surreal. Except Paraguay Argentina WCQ 2021 0:0, Argentina Brazil WCQ 2021 0:0, Argentina Uruguay WCQ 2023 0:2.

    • Calling the 02 beasts turned everything in our favour. Imagine the horrifying story we would have ended with, had M.Quatra/Pezzella and Armani been maintained in lieu of them.

IMO & In pecking order, Scaloni’s most impactful selections since his reigns are Dibu,Cuti, Enzo, Macca and Alvarez.
