Day two of the Club World Cup takes place on Sunday and 15 Argentine players could take part in the matches. The opening match of the Club World Cup saw Óscar Ustari make eight saves, one of which was a penalty kick in Inter Miami’s 0-0 draw against Al Ahly.
The first match of day two is Bayern Munich against Auckland City, a match with no Argentine players. The second match is the newly crowned Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.
A total of six Argentine players could take part in this match with Juan Musso, Rodrigo De Paul, Ángel Correa, Nahuel Molina, Julián Álvarez and Giuliano Simeone all with Atletico. It is highly unlikely that Musso will play in goal.
Palmeiras of Brazil take on FC Porto with six Argentine players in that match. Agustín Giay, who has been playing at right back and in good form for Palmeiras is part of their team, as is Aníbal Moreno and José Manuel López. FC Porto have Alan Varela, Nehuén Pérez and Tomás Pérez.
In the last match of the day, once more, it is a Brazilian team, this time against a club from MLS. Botafogo with Álvaro Montoro and Alexander Barboza take on Pedro de la Vega and the Seattle Sounders.
A total of 105 Argentine players are taking part in this year’s Club World Cup.
Angel correa what a useless player. He needs to be reminded this is not Argentina vs Portugal match. I see why scaloni never rates him
This Moron will not referee another game
No no no. The referee is not the problem. Simeone tactics are a disgrace.
Hard to watch talent wasted before our eyes with this AM club! Koka got a yellow as soon as he stepped on the pitch!
PSG is not even playing with all their players
GOAL Argentino
Or not
Diego Simeone is a disgrace of a manager. Where is Gallagher? That midfield is non existent. Why buy rejects like Lenglet worst Barcelona players.
Gallagher really? He is not a serious midfielder. Coward Simeone always plays like a bitch against big teams.
Gallagher will bring energy to the energy the midfield. But guess what he just brought koke instead. I really hate him.
Poor display from athletico their passes are weightless
I want those portugsl players to be shut down by argentinos
Terrorball from Simeone again, Atletico is hopeless, sadly Giuliano is not a good winger, he simply not know how to play football. Horrible technique dribbling and finishing, his playmaking is all about crosses, no vision, just running without brain.
One of the primary reason some fans are demanding Messi be dropped off from the starting xi is because of the high expectations he has set from himself. His standards are so high that chances created and close misses means nothing unless he scores a banger. Messi’s finishing and pace was already going downhill since his move to PSG! It is his playmaking that won us the world cup! And if you start watching Messi with a lens of a playmaking then he is still by far the best and most creative player of the team. However I agree that with him on the field we are playing with 10 men when defending!
On a different note, BM won 10-ZERO…yikes
Any objective Argentina fan can now see Messi the way he is. Old.
I am very objective and I said it many times here and many other places. Messi paid his debt to ARGENTINA in full, including interest and penalties and in doing so accomplished EVERYTHING that was expected of him and much more, we as fans don’t have a damn thing to criticize him on.
He plays for IM, a club solely based on OLD players with few or none really talented players around him who lack speed to make the necessary difference.
Last night’s game would have been much worse as we all expected had it not been for another old player.
And I said few weeks ago, I hope he doesn’t get embarrassed going up against the best clubs in the world at almost 39 years old.
Social Media nonsense aside, anybody expecting him to lift another trophy is simply delusional, especially with this club.
I don’t disagree with you. I’m just perplexed as to why anybody that has a sane mind would think he should start for us any longer. A sub yes, but he literally can’t run anymore and Scaloni has him as a centerpiece of the team. Him and others need to have reduced roles or go all together.
He might be old but he still one of the best player of match. If luck on his side He could have a goal and assist. He might slowing down but as a midfielder, specially chance creation, playmaking He still one of the best in the world.
The day he can’t contribute to the team, he will himself leave the team. Don’t worry.
He is not penaldo who just sit on box for tap in. Lionel Messi is a type of player even without goal he can still win the man of the match.
Don’t always need to points finger on Messi.
He might not scored against Colombia but still played well.
It’s very painful to hear Messi criticism here nowadays.
REMEMBER INTER MIAMI IS A WORST TEAM OF THE CLUB WORLD CUP.
I am not criticizing him. He is a hero. But I am not a hero worshipper. I want to win another WC. He can only contribute as a substitute. He just isn’t good enough anymore. Like Ota, Tagliafico, DePaul, and a few others. We all lose the battle to time. But don’t kid yourself, his ego is huge. Nobody gets to his level with no ego.
You’re right, he can still make a difference playing for ARGENTINA but I was talking about Inter Miami when I said that lifting a Club WC trophy would be delusional nm that Masche is clueless to win anything.
In the Mundo Youtube discussion, Roy and Osvaldo seemed very positive about Messi. They said Messi was one of the best 3 players against Colombia and they didn’t have a problem seeing Messi start in the WC. I think they both know better than you and me. The only thing that feels off is that I think right after he was subbed off Argentina burst into rhythm and scored the equalizer like this whole time Messi’s presence was holding something off and right after he was gone, Argentina got back their rhythm and the goal happened.
I hope PSG is fat and happy with their recent trophy that AM punches them early and never look back.
