José Manuel López of Palmeiras has commented on wanting to being called up to the Argentina national team.
The 24 year old was part of the Argentina national team for the two World Cup qualifying matches earlier this month against Venezuela and Ecuador. He scored two goals for Palmeiras in their 3-1 win against River in the Copa Libertadores and spoke to GeGlobo after the match. Here is what he had to say:
“Nowadays, coaches watch everything, although perhaps not so much the Argentine press.
“I’m very happy here and I think they watched a lot of Palmeiras games before calling me up. I’m doing my job to the best of my ability.
“I hope I continue to get more call-ups, it’s a dream for me. The first one was spectacular and I enjoyed every moment, just as I always dreamed I would. I’m proud to represent my country.”
Alvaro Montoro and Ian Subiabre will wear no. 10 and 11 for the U20 team respectively. When you add Carrizo to these duo you have a very good attacking team.
Will Subiabre be a starter? He never impressed me. My team in 4-2-3-1 Milton Delgado Tomas Perez/Acuna based on opponent—Prestianni/Subiabre Montoro Carrizo—Sarco. I would start rather with Prestianni.
In the U17 WC Subiabre and Echeverri were the stars of the team. To be honest, In some games of that tournament Subiabre looked like he was more skillful and superior to Echeverri, but that fine form of Subiabre didn’t last long and he declined in the South America U20 while Echeverri continued his amazing display.
They all had their moments, Subiabre, Carrizo, Acuna and Ruberto (sadly he’s injured) and I think they all have something to prove and contribute but at the end of the day it’s Diablito who stood out and he’s not playing and that’s a huge, HUGE loss. Losing Echeverri is like losing Messi in 2005 or Kun in 2007….yes it’s THAT big of a loss.
How Plancente will deal with his loss will determine the kind of coach he is. If he still manages to take this team past the 2nd round (for the first time since 2011) then I’d call the tournament a success.
Good going Lopez.. 👏 👏
🗣️ La Liga TV on Franco Mastantuono:
“Franco plays without any fear. This is an 18-year-old kid from Argentina playing for Real Madrid, but he looks like a senior player playing in a local park.
Not to mention… his defending has been incredible.” 👏🇦🇷
That’s also my feelings. His confidence, fighting spirit and determination is incredible.
