Marcos Senesi spoke about playing with the Argentina national team.
Senesi played his first match for the Argentina national team in 2022 and Argentina’s 1-0 win against Venezuela was his first with the Argentina national team in over three years. Prior to being called up by coach Lionel Scaloni in 2022, Senesi refused a call up from the Italian nattional team.
He started for Argentina for the first time in the win against Venezuela. Speaking to the media after the match, here is what he had to say:
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to be here with the national team, to play my first game as a starter wearing this jersey.
“I made the decision with my head and my heart. I believe it was the right thing to do to play for my country. It’s something I always wanted and always dreamed of.
“I try to enjoy it to the fullest and make the most of the opportunity.”
Senesi was called to Italy national team before but he rejected. Now he’s starting for Argentina. Soule has to wait for his chance. If he keeps/improving the level, eventually he will be playing for NT.
The management knew Almada, Mastantuono were injured and Mac Allister is not at 100%, and they were all called up. Did Scaloni reaally need 4 goal keepers for 2 friendly matches? Scaloni could have included Soule, Barco, Barrenechea from the start
All this unnecessary news could have been easily avoided with a little bit of common sense.
First of all you should understand that Coach and his staff have analysed all these players, and many of them got the call-ups before, including Soule.
May be Soule is in excellent form now, same thing happened to Buendia before. Fans wanted the player to get the call up but coaching staff was ignoring.
I think as long Messi playing, Soule’s chance is slim. No variations and Messi does better still at 38. Same thing happened to Dybala.
Alternative to Messi is Mastantuono, Simeone, even Nico Gonzalez can be used right.
Mastantuono has huge potential and is currently doing better defensively.
Simeone is fas and tireless player.
These are different from Messi and much needed variations for NT. They can play even with Messi in lineup.
If Messi can’t play, it will be Almada or Paz creating (but different positions) they are ahead of Soule.
I think even Carboni is ahead of Soule at the moment…! A full season, Carboni’s level will be different.
