Nico Paz set to return to Real Madrid in June 2026

According to a report by Diario AS, Nico Paz is entering the final stretch of his time at Como 1907, with a return to Real Madrid already decided and considered a done deal.

The Spanish outlet states that Real Madrid have made the final decision to activate the buy-back clause included in Paz’s transfer agreement, and the midfielder will return to Valdebebas in June 2026 for a fixed fee of €9 million. The club does not intend to sell him upon his return and plans to keep him as part of the first-team project.

Paz, 21, is currently focused on finishing the season strongly with Como, where he has taken a significant step forward in his development. After arriving in Italy, he has established himself as a key player and gained regular top-level experience, something Real Madrid have closely followed with satisfaction.

According to Diario AS, the coming months will be decisive not only at club level but also internationally. Paz is pushing to earn a place in Argentina’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. While he is on the radar of head coach Lionel Scaloni, he is not yet a guaranteed selection and must continue to perform consistently.

Since making his senior debut for Argentina in October 2024, Paz has gradually been integrated into the national team setup. He has started twice, including a World Cup qualifier against Chile in June 2025, and completed a full match in a friendly against Venezuela. Despite not featuring during the November international break, he remains under consideration.

The report also details that Real Madrid hold full control over the situation. The buy-back clause was agreed upon when Como signed the player, allowing Madrid to repurchase him in 2025, 2026 or 2027, always for a clearly defined fee. Como explored options to retain him but were aware of the conditions from the start and are not expected to block the move.

Despite growing interest from other European clubs and a rapidly increasing market value — estimated by Transfermarkt at €65 million — Real Madrid are not considering a resale. The club believe Paz can provide solutions in midfield and view him as a long-term asset.

If everything goes as planned, 2026 will mark Nico Paz’s definitive return to Real Madrid, closing a developmental chapter in Italy and opening a new stage at the Bernabéu, with both club ambitions and World Cup goals in sight.

  1. I really don’t like the idea of Nico Paz moving back to Madrid! Sure, they’ll get rid of Vinni and Rodrigo to build a team around Mbappe playing in his favorite spot on the left, and they’ll probably buy a striker to optimize his game. But playing with Mbappe hasn’t gone well for his past clubs or his superstar teammates. First it was Messi and Neymar who got held back by his selfish play, and now it’s Vinicius, Bellingham, and Rodrigo!
The only reason France won the 2018 World Cup was that other top teams were in transition which is why croatia made it to the finals. Mbappe will outshine everyone but he just hasn’t done anything to actually get his team to win something big.

Senesi attracting interest from big clubs is a good sign for us. People call him a slow defender, but I haven’t really seen that, he’s definitely not like Fazio. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have adapted to the premier League as well as he has. I actually thought pep might go after him since he fits the type of player Pep likes.
Scaloni needs to bring in more new players in key positions. Sticking with the same core group of starters can backfire, motivation tends to drop significantly which is pretty common with world Cup winning teams that don’t refresh their squad and crash out early. Winning back to back world cup is extremely difficult but if we properly utilize our strengths and young players, we can actually retain the title.

    • Nico paz is needed by Madrid while Arda Guler is doing fine. Let’s see how this interesting story evolves. Afterall, this is Madrid under that dictator. I personally could careless about Madrid or Mbappe. Let them both reap what they have been sawing. Speaking of talents andNadtid, where is Mastantuono?

Plus last time I checked and wached a game between our talents was Roma vs Como. I know Rome is a big club especially when compared to Como but Soule was super good to any one in the field except that wing back Brazilian(Wesley,).

I hope Scaloni will seriously consider both Senesi and Soule in his repertoire of the 2026WC team. Soule tracks back well and consistently for his club and I firmly believe he can back up Alvarez as a striker ( 4-42) or beind strikers as in 4-3-2-1 in the NT. For me the natural replacement of Alvarez are none of the natural #9 strikers given Alvarez’s versitileness in his workrate and defensive qualities but Soule ,if only Scaloni is willing to try him in his vsrious tactics.Plus, Soule can be used as LFW in 4-3-3 formation as a close candidate to filli Di Maria’s void, eventhough, we all know it is hard to replicate the speed, assisst, crossing and overall class deliveries of Fideo in final matches. Yet onky Soule not Mastantuono neither paz nor Simone is the one that would naturally come to my mind from the existing pool of talents for the latter formation in taking over Fideo’s role.

      • I agree with you. Both Senesi and Soulé need to be integrated into the national team. Senesi has already played a few matches and performed well. Licha’s return from injury is a major relief for Scaloni, but Senesi has clearly proven himself in the Premier League, which is the fastest and most physically demanding league in Europe and should be third in CB pecking order.
Soulé, meanwhile, is competing with junior Simeone and Mastantuono for the right-wing position. Giuliano’s work rate is exactly what Scaloni values, as it helps compensate for Messi’s limited pressing. Mastantuono was performing well at Madrid before his injury. While his stats were not outstanding, his pressing and positioning created space for Mbappe. However, Alonso is currently under pressure and is unlikely to continue relying on inexperienced players. As a result, Mastantuono may not get many opportunities, and when he does, he will need to make them count.
At the moment, Mastantuono, Simeone, and Soulé are competing for two places in the squad for the right wing. On the left side, Nico González and Garnacho are the only natural wingers tried by Scaloni, but Garnacho’s decision-making and end product in the final third have not fully convinced either Chelsea or Scaloni. In addition, Argentina currently has only one natural left-back in Tagliafico, who is also getting older, which is another area of concern for the team going forward. We desperately need a solid RB and LB if we are serious about defending our title! Molina and Montiel aren’t at the same level anymore and Scaloni should know more about it than anyone else.
