Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has spoken about the World Cup.
Lionel Scaloni is with the Argentina national team and they will play Mauritania on Friday. Scaloni held a press conference on Thursday, speaking about the World Cup. Here is what he had to say:
“In principle, the base of the list is there but yes, we keep looking at players and there are guys that aren’t here and we are also looking at them. Everything will depend on how the players are doing, arriving as close as possible to their potential.
“Think about repeating a World Cup, given how complicated it is, it’s something that’s hard to promise. It would be incredible. I think Argentina deservedly won the last one but there are many cases where the one who deserves it doesn’t win and that speaks to the difficulty of the tournament.
“The World Cup is very complicated. We are doing well and logically, the opponents will play us differently. We know what’s at stake and the team will be there, after that, it’s football and we know what that entails.
“No less than 10 national teams can win the World Cup and maybe I might even be underselling it. I have no doubt that there’s a very high level.”
