Julián Álvarez has addressed the growing rumors about his future and made it clear that his focus remains fully on Atlético de Madrid during the final stretch of the season.
Speaking ahead of a key UEFA Champions League semifinal clash against Arsenal, the Argentine forward expressed frustration over constant speculation linking him with a move away from the club, with Barcelona among the teams reportedly interested.
“I try not to give too much importance to what is said, because every week new things come out,” Álvarez said. “I try not to waste energy on that, and instead focus on what we have here, with very important matches. I want to be at my best to help the team and achieve big things here.”
The striker also made it clear that he will not respond to every rumor that appears.
“I can’t be coming out all the time to clarify or deny everything that is said. I try not to pay attention to what is said on social media, because it often becomes a ball of lies. I need to save my energy for what matters to me, which is being at one hundred percent to help the team.”
Álvarez, one of Atlético’s key players this season, confirmed that he is fully fit for the first leg against Arsenal at the Metropolitano.
“I’m at one hundred percent,” he stated.
The Argentine did not feature in Atlético’s recent match against Athletic Club as a precaution, but he is expected to return to the starting lineup for the Champions League semifinal. He has been in strong form in Europe this season, scoring nine goals in the competition.
