Agustín Giay to be called up to Argentina national team for friendly matches

Agustín Giay is set to be called up to the Argentina national team for the friendly matches before the World Cup.

Giay will be called up for the two matches against Honduras and Iceland. According to Hernán Claus, the 22 year old will be part of the team for the two matches.

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni is also expected to call up Nicolás Capaldo, Tomás Aranda, Santiago Beltrán and Joaquín Freitas to the national team

  1. Giay & Capaldo in active radar means Scaloni thinks one of Montiel/ Molina is not going to be fully fit for WC. Makes a lot of sense to have an uncapped fit player than an unfit experienced hand. While Montiel’s penalty expertise in knockouts & Molina’s forward runs are valuable , frankly there is not much of difference in the levels.

  2. It is possible that Scaloni might omit both Acuna and Montiel, opting instead for Capaldo and Giay, which could be seen as a surprising decision.
