The Argentina national team are set to become number one in the latest FIFA rankings.
Argentina could be the top rated team in the world going into the World Cup. With Spain drawing 1-1 against Iran and France losing 2-1 against Ivory Coast, the Argentina national team will be the top ranked team.
Lionel Scaloni’s team are set to be on 1874.81 points with Spain in second place on 1873.01 and France at 1869.43 points. Argentina will play Honduras and Iceland before the World Cup and on June 11, the FIFA rankings will be announced.

the two key issues facing Argentina ahead of the World Cup:
1. Heat Advantage (Status: Intentional & Active)
· Plan: Argentina is training in Kansas City (32°C/90°F afternoons) to force heat acclimatization—building sweat efficiency and stamina that European teams (like France in cool Boston) lack.
· Knockout Edge: If matches go to open-air/humid venues (Miami, New Jersey), Argentina will have a measurable physiological advantage late in games.
2. The 65th-Minute Collapse (Status: Targeted Prevention)
· Historical Problem: Loss of focus against France (final) and Netherlands (quarters) led to rapid concession of goals.
· 2026 Solution: Scaloni has implemented a “5-second recovery rule” after losing possession, plus Messi-specific load management (separate recovery sessions) and a standby list of 5 players to replace fatigued or injured starters without panic.
· Vulnerable Spot: Right-backs Molina and Montiel are both recovering from muscle issues; Scaloni has tested Agustín Giay as a contingency.
I hope my username now finally justifies itself.
I don’t know if anyone agrees or not, but this would be the first world cup for us while we are living a dream, which atleast should guarantee that we won’t lose our nerves in the last 10 minutes like we did against Ned and Fra….
World ranking leaders have never won the World Cup, this is a curse.
You are incorrect. Brasil was ranked #1 in 1994 and 2002 and also Germany was #1 in 2014.
This is FIFA adding extra pressure for Argentina to motive our opponents. Rankings only matter during the draw.
