AFA president Claudio Tapia has spoken about Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni’s future.
Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni stated after the World Cup that he is set to leave as coach of the Argentina national team when his contract expires in December. Speaking to TyC Sports, here is what Claudio Tapia had to say about Scaloni:
“The personal side for me is the affection and the relationship we maintain, nothing more. And without a doubt, I want him to stay, we all want him to stay.
“In fact, we had talked about it. He has expressed it too, he said that the conversations were very advanced and that afterward, it would take us two or three minutes to reach an agreement and shake hands.
“But I’m a grateful guy and because I am grateful. I think we have to let him go… I would understand whatever his decision nis. Let him reflect, let him make the best decision he believes is right, one that we have to respect. I must respect it.
“I can’t keep the Gringo chained if he feels he doesn’t have the necessary drive or that he doesn’t have, perhaps, some greater projection ahead. On the contrary, I want him to be well and for everything he has given us, we all should want the same.
“Even if it hurts us and even if we say “After the Scaloneta, who?” Well, my plan A, B and C is Scaloni.”
