Cristian Romero spoke about being the new Argentina national team captain and Lionel Messi’s retirement.
Romero scored for Argentina in their 4-0 win against Bolivia and he spoke to the media after the match. Here is what he had to say:
“A day that will always be etched in my memory. I never would have imagined starting my career at Belgrano and returning 10 years later having achieved everything with the National Team.
“We have good players, an excellent coaching staff, and we’re going to prepare to continue taking the National Team to the top.”
He also spoke about him being the new captain of the Argentina national team:
“Scaloni let me know quite some time ago that I was going to be the third captain. Leo and Otra chose me, and it’s up to me to assume that responsibility and be grateful.”
About Lionel Messi’s retirement back against Benin:
“We’re going to miss Leo a lot; he’s our flag bearer. There won’t be another like him.”
