Marcos Acuña injured, to be out 2-3 weeks

Marcos Acuña felt a sharp pain in the hamstring of his left leg during River Plate’s game against Instituto on Wednesday. This is the same area that had been bothering him recently, and tests have confirmed a muscle tear that will sideline him for two to three weeks.

The 33-year-old left-back was not selected by Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni in the squad of 26 for the upcoming double matchday next week. With Nicolás González out of the Argentina squad due to injury, Acuña emerged as a possible replacement.

However, due to his recent injury setback, it has been confirmed that the World Cup-winning defender will not be called up by Scaloni.

  1. We have been searching for a proper left back for long. Scaloni had made us believe that he jas only one option in hand now (in absence of Nico and Acuna) and that is Tagli.

This team lacks physicality and pace but can play beautiful Argentine football with its sheer passing and technique.
