Lionel Messi speaks on potential final match in Argentina

Lionel Messi could potentially be playing his final match in Argentina on September 4 againat Venezuela.

Messi’s next match with the Argentina national team is a World Cup qualifier on September 4 in Argentina. Lionel Scaloni’s team will play Ecuador on September 9 in their last World Cup qualifying match.

In October, Argentina will play two matches in the United States and in November, they will play one match in Angola and another one in India.

Prior to the World Cup, Argentina are set to play the Finalissima against Spain in March. No matches have been announced before the World Cup.

Following Inter Miami’s 3-1 win against Orlando in the semi finals of the Leagues Cup, Messi was asked about Argentina’s World Cup qualifying match against Venezuela being his last in Argentina. Speaking with Antonella González, here is what he had to say:

“Yes, it’s going to be special, a very special match for me because it’s the last qualifier game. I don’t know if there will be a friendly or more games afterward, but yes, it’s a very special match, and that’s why my family will be with me.

“My wife, my kids, my parents, my siblings, and also as many relatives as possible from my wife’s side and we’ll experience it that way. After that, like I said, I don’t know what will happen, but we’re going in with that mindset. Thank you.”

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni announced his last for the World Cup qualifying matches.
