Argentina’s U-17 national team secured qualification to the Round of 16 at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar after a 1–0 victory over Tunisia. The team, coached by Diego Placente, earned its second consecutive win in Group D thanks to a goal from Facundo Jainikoski.
The match, played at Mohammed Ghanim Stadium in Doha, saw Argentina take control from the start. The South Americans created several clear chances throughout the first half, but Tunisian goalkeeper Slim Bouaskar kept his team in the game with multiple key saves. Thomas De Martis came close to scoring with a chip shot that struck the post, denying Argentina an early lead.
In the second half, Argentina finally broke through. At the 66th minute, Jainikoski scored after an individual run that began near midfield, following a quick pass from De Martis. His low, precise shot to the far post gave Argentina the advantage.
With this result, Argentina reached six points in Group D and confirmed its place in the Round of 16 of the tournament. The team will face Fiji on Sunday in its final group-stage match.
