Cristian Romero is set to miss five to eight weeks with an injury.
Romero was substituted out injured for Tottenham Hotapur in their match against Sunderland and left the match in tears. According to Martín Arevalo, Romero has suffered a grade one lateral knee ligament injury and will be out for five to eight weeks.
The Argentina national team will play their opening match of the World Cup on June 16 against Algeria.

For Cristian Romero:
Grade 1 lateral knee ligament injury
→ this is mild (the lowest grade)
→ no tear, just slight stretching of the ligament
5–8 weeks recovery
→ very standard for this kind of injury
Now let’s line it up with your real concern:
World Cup opening match – June 16
Timing reality
We’re in mid-April
5–8 weeks puts his return roughly in:
→ late May to early June
That gives him:
~2–3 weeks before the World Cup starts
enough time for training, match fitness, and rhythm
Vamoss
It is a great relief that Cristian Romero will be available for Argentina; otherwise, the team would be significantly weakened.
We are so back… Vamos Albiceleste for lifeee
