River Plate want to sign Thiago Almada after the World Cup.
Thiago Almada could be leaving Atletico Madrid and River Plate want to sign the player. According to Sebastián Vignolo, the Argentine club are determined to sign the 25 year old but after the World Cup with Argentina.
Almada played 27 league games with Atletico Madrid, starting most of the matches on the bench.

sevila left back Joaquín Martínez Gauna oSo And Solari…will be great future for argentina
The mainstream media is already writing argentina off, which is good. I believe we’ll win again.
Scaloni should not make the same mistake as Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti picked Neymar even though he has barely played recently. Neymar is extremely talented and he has the respect of the locker room, but he did not deserve the call-up.
Scaloni should be as ruthless as Thomas Tuchel. Both Phil Foden and Cole Palmer have been dropped. Based purely on match fitness and form, Thiago Almada should also be dropped. He offers very little defensively. It would be better to strengthen the midfield with players like Buindia (physically strong), Milton Delgado or Tomás Aranda.
A national team is not always 26 most talented players in a squad, it is often also players that can play in multiple positions well and more importantly contribute to the locker room atmosphere, enhance harmony, cohesion and team spirit. Tevez was left out of the 2014 team in part because he was not someone Sabella saw as a contributing factor, although on talent alone we could have used him.
Scaloneta’s greatest strength is team unity…

My question to team management, if we are trailing in a knockout match, would you bring Bunedia or Almada off the bench?
Additionally, is Scaloni okay with two aging left backs?
I will no doubt will go for the inform Buendia even I will hand him a chance to the starting eleven
I think that’s a wrong question, Almada is likely a starter as a LWF, we might be bringing Nico Gonzalez or a tall, classic number 9 like Lopez.
Amada hate is unwarranted, plagued some sections of this blog since his Atlanta days. Yes, his Atletico time has been underwhelming but that’s partly due to Cholo, he does not always manage flair players well. Almada has been great at Botafogo and Lyon and let’s not forger he started a few games for Argentina, scored and provided assists.
Scaloni might not be OK with aging LB, but do we have other elite LB options that were screaming for inclusion?
Almada has 3 goals 3 assists in 7 appearances in WCQs which isn’t bad by any means but his decision making, passing and finishing in the final third has been extremely poor for Atletico which is why they are offloading him in just 1 season.
Regarding LB situation like others have mentioned Argentine domestic league unfortunately isn’t the same from 80s or 90s or even early 2010 and young players leaving for Europe is what helped Argentina maintain its dominance. Sevilla let go of Acuna and Montiel for a reason and not trying new players during an easy WCQ campaign is why we are in this mess.
Exactly one ageing lb is fine but not two, If u pick two ageing Lb u will miss an opportunity in other areas
Which elite LB were excluded in your opinion that should have been included? Do we have a whole bunch of world class fullbacks waiting to be called?
I dont think the point is ELITE Lb. Why is coach insisting on sticking to Tagli & Acuna. We will be the only big team in WC with 2 LBs who are 33/34yrs. Both Acuna & Tagli have had quiet club seasons. There is no question on Tagli being an automatic starter for us. I also agree we dont have any standout contender to break into team. My problem is that there has been atleast 7-8 games since our qualification. What stops coach from experimenting in LB role post our qualification. Oso ( Sevilla), Soler, Blanco(Boca), Rojas , Del Blanco ( Santa Fe) was a bunch of players from where coach could have given some serious minutes. Or even try Barco considering his youth experience as an LB. We only saw Rojas getting some 20mins & i think NicoG got a game as LB. Continuing to persist with Acuna will turn out to be a serious mistake in WC.
