Emanuel Mammana is back from injury for Zenit after being out for 290 days.

The Argentina defender suffered a partial rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee in October of last year which has kept him out since. That wasn’t his first major injury since joining the club as back in March of 2018 he had ruptured ligaments in the same knee.

Mammana started for Zenit in their 2-1 win against Rostov in the team’s final game of the season. It was the defender’s first appearance for the club since October 2019 against Ural. He has now played 41 matches for the reigning Russian Premier League champions. Sebastian Driussi and Emiliano Rigoni also played in the win with Rigoni scoring the first goal of the match.

Still only 24 years old, Mammana was called up by Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni prior to his injury.

Juventus are reportedly keeping tabs on Argentine midfielder Rodrigo de Paul.

The Udinese midfielder could soon be on his way out. Per a report by Corriere dello Sport, the Serie A champions are interested in signing de Paul. Still only 26 years of age, de Paul is entering the prime of his career and this could be the big move for him.

He has played 29 matches this season, starting 28 of them and scoring 7 goals in the process. He also leads his team in assists with five to his name. Should he join Juventus, he would become team mates with Paulo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

Rodrigo de Paul came up through the Racing Club youth system where he then made the jump to Europe in 2014 joining Valencia. He didn’t have the best of spells in Spain as he ended up going back on loan to Racing before finally joining Udinese in 2016 and being a permanent figure in the team.

Ironically, Udinese will be playing Juventus today in the league.

Adolfo Gaich is the latest Argentine striker to make the jump to Europe as his deal with CSKA Moscow is all but official and the 21 year old is confident he will still be called to the Argentina national team.

Despite many big name strikers being called to the Argentina national team, Gaich has already been capped once. A star for the U20 team at the World Cup, he made his senior national team debut at the end of last year. Despite not joining one of the top 5 European leagues, Gaich is confidence he’ll still be in the Argentina national team radar. Speaking in an interview with TyC Sports, here’s what he had to say:

“I never thought I’d be far from the Argentina national team. I know it’s a great opportunity to gain experience in European football and I know that I will continue to be called to the national team.

“I always try to enjoy every match, every training camp, these are things that make you very happy.

“I’ve been in contact with the coaching staff. That doesn’t confirm me anything but I trust in myself and I know that I could be at a good level.”

Gaich also spoke about his time with San Lorenzo:

“There were times where I had more desire to play and it didn’t happen. Where I didn’t get an opportunity. There were times where I had that confidence and I was able to show it on the pitch, which were during my last few months.

“Those are things I carry deep in my heart because they were beautiful moments which I lived, scoring goals and that’s what I’ll keep with me from all of this.”
