Angel DI MARIA hattrick eases PSG into quarter-finals

21

A rare Angel DI MARIA hattrick saw PSG blitz through Sochaux in a 4-1 win.

An Angel DI MARIA goal in under a minute saw the visitors grab an early lead in the French Cup. DI MARIA headed home from close range to open the scoring for the French league leaders. The home team drew level in the 13th minute but DI MARIA replied 13 minutes into the second half when his shot went over the goalkeeper and into the net. DI MARIA added a third from close range. The victory takes PSG into the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

Javier PASTORE came on as a substitute in the second half.

The hattrick is Angel DI MARIA’s first in the top 5 European Leagues in all competitions. An interesting statistic shows that DI MARIA has been lighting it up since the second part of December.

Former Argentina National Team coach Alejandro SABELLA made a rare public appearance on Sunday.

Alejandro SABELLA was in attendance to watch his beloved Estudiantes de La Plata team as they played Newell’s Old Boys at home at the Estadio Unico de La Plata. This was SABELLA’s first public appearance in over three years.

“Alejandro is a friend. In the National Team and here, it’s something beautiful. Having him come and watch the team fills me with immense joy.”

Lautaro MARTINEZ hattrick and Ignacio SCOCCO dribble goal

36

Lautaro MARTINEZ scored a hattrick for Racing Club while Argentinian international Ignacio SCOCCO was on target twice for River Plate.

With Argentina National Team coach Jorge SAMPAOLI (as well as a member from the Inter Milan team) present at the match, it was the Lautaro MARTINEZ show as the youngster scored three goals in Racing Club’s 4-0 win against Huracan. It’s been rumored for some time now that MARTINEZ would get called-up to the Argentina team (more specifically for the upcoming friendly matches against Italy and Spain next month) and with SAMPAOLI in attendance, he didn’t disappoint.

From a young 20 year old to a more experience 32 year old, Ignacio SCOCCO found the back of the net two times for River Plate and both were gems as Los Millonarios picked up a 2-0 win against Olimpo. The opening goal was a very well struck free kick, 56 minutes into the match. The second was nothing short of genius. A run you would have seen done by Diego MARADONA or in modern times Lionel MESSI, SCOCCO wiggled his way around the Olimpo team, rounded the goalkeeper and scored to double the lead.

Angel CORREA rocket shot, Federico FERNANDEZ scores for Swansea

An Angel CORREA rocket and a rare Federico FERNANDEZ goal continue our tally of Argentine strikes this weekend.

A Giovani LO CELSO chipped goal for PSG and a Gonzalo HIGUAIN hattrick for Juventus and now two more Argentinians added their names on the scoresheets. Beginning in Spain, a rocket shot by Atletico Madrid’s Angel CORREA was the difference as Diego SIMEONE’s men picked up a 1-0 victory against Valencia.

Per Opta, CORREA has now scored six goals in La Liga this season which is more than he has scored in any other of his seasons with Atletico. Furthermore, he has scored the opening goal in the six games in which he has scored this season in La Liga.

A starter at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Argentina, Federico FERNANDEZ scored a rare goal for his club side Swansea as they drew 1-1 against Leicester City. The home team were up 1-0 up until the 57th minute when Federico FERNANDEZ scored a header to draw level.

A Gonzalo HIGUAIN hattrick in Juventus victory

2

A Gonzalo HIGUAIN hattrick took the Argentina number 9’s goal tally to 13 goals in the league.

Only fitting that on Superbowl Sunday, Juventus would win by a touchdown as they defeated Sassuolo 7-0 with HIGUAIN scoring the final three goals. With no Paulo DYBALA in the squad, HIGUAIN took it upon himself to represent the sky blue and white as his 20 minute hattrick was his first in Juventus colors. His coup du chapeau was his first in Serie A since he scored one for Napoli in May 2015 against Frosinone. HIGUAIN scored the first goal in the 63rd minute, the second in the 74th minute and finally the third in the 83rd minute.

The win temporarily takes Juventus top of the Serie A table with 59 points, two points ahead of Napoli who are yet to play.
