Jorge SAMPAOLI: “I’m leaving Sevilla for my National Team”

The never ending rumors involving Jorge SAMPAOLI and the Argentina National Team have finally come to an end.

Ahead of the last La Liga weekend of the season, Sevilla coach Jorge SAMPAOLI has addressed it all concerning his time with Sevilla and him joining the Argentina National Team. Speaking to the media, the Copa America winner had this to say:

Jorge SAMPAOLI’s comments:

“I feel like I have to go. Based on the needs of my country, I have to be there. I’m not leaving Sevilla for another club. If it all happens, I’m leaving Sevilla for my National Team. The chance to coach my National Team has once again resurfaced and I can’t turn it down.”

“To give the list (Argentina squad), I have to have Sevilla’s authorization.”

It’s also being reported that Sevilla have accepted that the AFA pay them SAMPAOLI’s €1.5 million release clause.

Argentina U20: Opening match against England, news and more

The Argentina U20 team debut at the World Cup against rivals England.

Five time U20 World Cup champions Argentina, lead by Claudio UBEDA, kick off their tournament on the opening day in South Korea. There’s been a lot of speculation about the squad leading up to the World Cup with injuries and clubs not allowing players to travel but UBEDA now has his team. The list of 21 who will try to lift World Cup number 6 for Argentina is the following:

The Argentina list keeps growing and Jorge SAMPAOLI has not even been officially announced as the new coach.

As we reported yesterday, Mauro ICARDI, Emanuel MAMMANA and Leandro PAREDES will be called-up to the Argentina National Team. The media in Argentina is now also reporting a few other names which will be included in Jorge SAMPAOLI’s list. According to some reports coming out of Argentina, Manuel LANZINI, Joaquin CORREA, Leonel VANGIONI and Guido RODRIGUEZ will make the team. This would mean the following players would make Jorge SAMPAOLI’s list:

In addition, news has been circulating that Ever BANEGA is expected to play the number 5 role with Javier MASCHERANO playing as a defender. The list will be announced on Friday.

Paulo DYBALA and Gonzalo HIGUAIN win Coppa Italia

Paulo DYBALA and Gonzalo HIGUAIN won their first piece of silverware by winning the Coppa Italia as they seek the club’s first treble.

Juventus took on Lazio in the final of this year’s Coppa Italia and the result was never in doubt as Juventus got a 2-0 victory against the team from Rome. Both Paulo DYBALA and Gonzalo HIGUAIN started the final.

The team now shifts their focus onto this weekend where they can lift another Scudetto ahead of this year’s Champions League final.

Sergio ROMERO stars in Manchester United draw

Sergio ROMERO was the star for Manchester United against Southampton.

The Manchester United cup goalkeeper Sergio ROMERO got a rare start in the Premier League in their 0-0 draw against Southampton. Sergio ROMERO did what Sergio ROMERO does best, save a penalty kick. In one of his first actions of the match, ROMERO was up against a penalty kick and just like he did against the Netherlands at the 2014 World Cup, he came up big and saved his team.

Argentina’s number one goalkeeper also gave his first ever interview in English following the match. ROMERO talks about the penalty save, the clean sheet and more.
