Lionel MESSI has won several titles in his illustrious career but according to him, the one you win at the Olympics is the most valued.

The Argentina and Barcelona captain sat down with Esquire magazine and spoke about a number of topics. From Argentina to the sacrifices he had to make to become a player even to his private life, Lionel Messi commented about it. Here’s what he had to say:

Lionel MESSI on Argentina National Team:

“I understand the people that ask and demand their National Team to win something but no one more than the players who make up the National Team want to win that title (World Cup).”

Lionel MESSI on most important title:

“The most valued title is that of the Olympics because it’s a tournament that you get to play in once in your life. It’s where you get to live with athletes from different sports.”

Lionel MESSI on sacrifices:

“To be an elite player, one has to sacrifice a lot but not more than any other worker who has to provide for their family. It’s difficult but it’s what I chose.”

Lionel MESSI on maturing as a player:

“I’m calmer when I think and I pick my moments.”

Lionel MESSI on his personal life and his pastime:

“Being with my kids and and enjoying playing with them. Also, watching television.”

This is the first interview given by Lionel MESSI regarding the Argentina National Team since the infamous press conference in November where he stated that no one from the Argentina National Team will be speaking to the media.

The comments against the media came after a few journalists were reporting and attacking the team, more specifically Ezequiel LAVEZZI. The team have not spoken to the media since November.

According to reports, the announcement regarding Edgardo BAUZA’s departure will be made soon.

Per a report by Ole , Edgardo BAUZA’s departure will be made official shortly. It also states that the Argentina National Team will have a new coach for their next match which will be against Brazil in June.

The AFA president (TAPIA) will apparently be travelling to Europe to speak to Lionel MESSI regarding the team and his suspension.

Former Argentine International and current Estudiantes President Juan Sebastian VERON was a guest on Fox Sport Argentina’s show called La Llave del Gol where he gave his thoughts on the current situation with Argentina’s national team.

When asked about who he feels should replace Edgardo BAUZA, La Brujita said that he prefers his former National Team colleague Mauricio POCHETTINO (current Spurs manager), Eduardo BERIZZO (Celta Vigo) or Diego SIMEONE (Atletico Madrid) to take charge.

He also said that the current squad contains many players that were effected badly by the criticism and the pressure they’re going through now.

It has been a busy day for everyone in the AFA offices with regards to the exit of Edgardo BAUZA as Argentina’s manager and the search of who is going to take the hottest seat in Argentine football.

Well if the AFA feels they already have enough on their plate to deal with, they just got a few millions more!

According to TyC Sport, Jorge PAUTASSO, Adrián CORIA and Raúl MARCOVICH (Tata MARTINO’s coaching staff in the National Team) have just filed a lawsuit against the AFA. It is said that the lawsuit is pertaining unpaid salaries, amounting to over three million dollars!

It should also be noted that the AFA still owes Tata MARTINO over 13 months worth of salary.

Report: Decision to fire BAUZA taken, SAMPAOLI in the plans

The decision to fire Edgardo BAUZA has been taken.

Per reports coming out of Argentina, including one from the very reliable Martin AREVALO of TyC Sports, the decision to fire Edgardo BAUZA has been taken. AREVALO just announced it on TyC that the decision has been made. A second report from La Nacion has stated the same thing, adding that the AFA will try and get Jorge SAMPAOLI as the next coach of the Argentina National Team.

The meeting between Edgardo BAUZA and the AFA which was supposed to take place today has been suspended and will take place on Wednesday.
