Lionel Scaloni spoke about his previous comments regarding his Argentina national team future.
Scaloni shocked the Argentine football world at the end of 2023 where he stated that he was thinking about his future as Argentina national team coach. He has since stated that he will remain coaching the Argentina national team and his future is no longer in doubt.
The Argnetine coach spoke in an interview with Clank.media where he had commented on the roles and importance of Lionel Messi and Ángel Di María in the Argentina national team. In the same interview, Scaloni spoke about his previous comments from last year. Here is what he had to say:
“It had been a bad year, I was not enjoying it, I had spent six very hard qualifying matches in which, on a personal level, I was not feeling well. I had gone through difficult moments, a lot of things come to your mind, I needed to talk about it with the players, with my family, with the directors…
“I needed to talk about what I felt, to take some time, from November to March there were no matches. The coaching staff understood that. I could see that I was not at 100%. I felt it and I had to say it. Why? Because maybe months later I was not in a position to continue. It is a place that needs to be 100% because the players require it, the national team requires it and because things were coming. The Copa América was coming up. I was not well, I needed to say it”
