  1. How can someone compare VAR era penalties with preVAR numbers?

Different ball game. Btw in last 3 VAR WCs France had 5 penalties too, England 6 penalties.

But if you want to play this game in every VAR matches (since Copa19, since WC18 and in WCQ 22-26+Finalissima)

Argentina awarded 13 penalties and conceded 15!!! penalties in 70 competitive matches.

Brazil awarded 18 penalties and conceded 1!!! again 1!!! penalty in 66 competive matches.

So Argentina minus 2 vs Brazil plus 17 but but but its rigged, scripted for Argentina.

    • Spot on 2018 france had exactly 4 penalty even in 2022 final they awarded 2 of them that second one in extra time i still cant belive its a penalty..
Yet after all this they says argentina got favoured.. If argentina got favoured then why the rafree will call for penalty aftr 80th mnt and in the extra time?? These m***** have no answer for that

  2. Palacious is our new right back then. Selecting Montial is totally a joke. Montial was horrible against algeria . Offside goal was from his side as well.

    • Please man.. Palacios is not our RB.. Scaloni mentioned in the conference he wanted to rest Molina and give some more time to Montiel. I dont think he will play there unless both are injured. Also not sure which worldclass RB did we not call up? Augustin giyay was very weak defensively. Capaldo did not even impress the coaching staff. Foyth is injured and even kevin Macallister was tried. No one was a huge upgrade over Montiel. Plus he has experience in playing in big games where he has done ok. Penalty is an added advantage. Also he is not an oldie. I dont think any huge blunder has been made.

      • @sabya agreed 100% when montiel kicked that ball into the goal in 2022 i thought we fans will be grateful to him for centuries thats what we do to our worldcup heros especially the last pK name always echos but poot montiel somehow always hated😌
Total disrespecting especially considering in the last 4 years we can find any good player superior to him other than Molina.

      • Montial is injured … No one can justify taking an unfit player. Now scaloni trying palacious as a makeshift.

  3. Scaloni selected Montiel because he is good penalty taker. But after giving chance in first match realised he is a shit. Now Scaloni is searching for alternatives and trying new players like palacios, Simeone.

    • Penalty taker is another thing…he takes monteil bcoz he had performed very much well in the initial stages of scaloni era….pls don’t critize much..if you know more than scaloni I think you can apply for Coach… contact AFA

      • He played 1 or 2 good in 2021 that too in copa. But that doesn’t mean you will keep him forever. If I’m not allowed to criticize a coach, then I shouldn’t be allowed to praise one either.

        • You forget how he played in wc 2022..how he performed in post wc..how he performed in high intense qualifiers… scaloni tried but he can’t find upgradation over him… my question now is to whom you prefer then in place of monteil?? Bad luck that foyth is injured… scaloni bring us joy… have done ✅ everything..Copa finalissima wc Copa..
          What we want more??
          Let’s pray and support
          Vamos Argentina

        • We all are here from different countries..from different community and football ⚽⚽ making us to be in this forum in the same community…I hope we can progress to final again this time.. let’s hope

  4. Stumbled on this post somewhere. I’d this true? If yes, then we have been fortunate of late to make up for all the cursed lucks we had endured for decades.

    – Germany have had 15 in their entire WC history (20 WC).

    – Brazil have had 14 penalties in their entire WC history (23 WC).

    – In the entire 2026 WC, 5 penalties have been awarded in 56 games.

Argentina have had 7 penalties in their last 10 WC GAMES.”

    • Man..whatever the truth…Penalty will come of the opposition fouls you inside box…Argentina is number 1 for ling time..they are the best attacking team..opposition will try to foul..Penalty is possible in every match…

    • I don’t know if those stats are true, but means very little because prior to late 1990s referees hesitated to give penalties easily.
But here are some stats that I am sure of:
In the last 3 finals that Argentina played,
      – 3 penalties were given against Argentina(of which the 1990 penalty and one of the penalties in 2022 are very debatable),
but only 1 penalty was given to Argentina(Di Maria earned that penalty legitimately and nobody debates that)
      – 2 Argentina players have been red carded and sent off, but 0 red cards to opponets.
      – 1 Argentina goal was (legitimately) flagged as off-side, 0 opponent goals were flagged as offside.

By contrast France were Awarded 4 penalties in their last 3 finals(1 in 2006, 1 in 2018, 2 in 2022)
If anything, FIFA favours European teams over Latin American teams. Notice that even in this world cup Argentina and Brazil have to play 2nd place group finishers instead of 3rd place group finishers which majority of group toppers have to play.

Argentina haters will say just about anything to demean Argentina. For example that other day they were saying Messi should have been red carded against Algeria when at best it was a yellow. One should never take those haters seriously. If Argentina earns more penalties it is because Argentina always had great dribblers in penalty box like Di Maria and Messi who are hard to stop.

      • lol it goes wayyyyy beyond that fifa have changed the very rules of the game 10s of times between 90s and today it’s far far far beyond oh a ref may hesitate lol

The tackle ha been all but outlord we live in a very flower boy woke time also got fifa know that the teams had become very good at boring us to death at world cups and taking every game to a shoot out fifa changed two things are woke HR Karen health and safety gay world we now live in and how do we ensure goals are scored to entertain the masses you have a lot of growing up to do

  5. Yesterday was fool’s gold. Beating up on minnows means less than nothing. They didn’t score on open play and that is a problem when better teams don’t commit stupid fouls. I’ll say it now, Scaloni made some poor decisions not just on player selection, but on integrating new players into the starting team. We haven’t had wing play in two years and all we can muster up is pushing in the middle? If there is no choice you should have just talked DiMaria in playing because he is better than the shit that’s out there now.
In player selection, how the hell do you call up Otamendi who just sucks and leave Senesi home barring injury to Balerdi? Which moron looked at Ota’s play and said yeah he better than Senesi? This is clear favoritism which is bullshit decision making by a manager. Also, wtf is Palacios doing here. If the best you can say is he was solid, what is he doing that Buendia, Barranchea, or Perrone can’t do? Palacios is just the worst version of Lucas Biglia reincarnated. I don’t know what happened to this guy but he is far from the creative player at River. Should have left his sorry ass in Germany. There’s 50 guys nobody has heard of that can perform just like him.
Also, no Argentina player should ever go play at Atletico. Diego Simeone is the vile cancer of Argentina football. Any player he gets becomes the worst version of himself. As far as I’m concerned they should revoke this POS citizenship and never let him near another Argentina player again. Alvarez looks like he forgot how to score and these bozos are complaining as to why he wants to leave? All this and I haven’t even talked about Montiel being called up which is a joke, along with Manuel Lopez who could clearly be stocking shelves at a store and nobody would care who he is. I hope I am wrong but unless these guys wake the hell up they are going to be dog walked on a leash by the likes of France. Disappointed and pathetic but hoping for the best.

    • Fools gold in 1st gear 2nd gear please show me were Argentina played in 3rd 4th 5th gear or 6th and were they played in race mode on ,,, calm down

      • San Isidro is an old agitator here.. he gets angry on everything.. even if we win this world cup he will say Scaloni has been stupid and lucky. Dont care much.. give me a stupid lucky manager like Scaloni everytime.

  6. I didn’t like conceding a goal but that will keep their memory fresh incase there is a hint of overconfidence for the games to come.
I don’t know if there is was or in the future will be a NT more hated than ARG!!!!
Every foul, pass, tackle, goal, PK, FK, dive jump…………etc that ARG performs is dissected, analyzed, measured and criticized just for one purpose: to discredit them because of jealousy and envy.

    • Although you’re right that conceding the goal will keep us grounded, I didn’t mind conceding that goal, given that we had an entirely new defensive setup with a makeshift right-back. That back line had never played together before. Of the five defensive players involved (the back four plus Paredes), only Tagliafico is likely to start in Argentina’s strongest XI.

Defense requires more coordination than any other area of the pitch because a single lapse in communication or positioning can be enough to concede a goal.

My bigger concern is the forward duo. Getting Lautaro and Julián back into form was my main expectation from this game, and I think it was Scaloni’s as well—that’s why he started both of them. Unfortunately, that expectation didn’t meet.
