Juan RIQUELME: “Let’s hope MESSI doesn’t get injured.”

4

Juan Roman RIQUELME spoke about Lionel MESSI, the National Team, his time with Argentina and more.

Speaking in the media, RIQUELME commented on how important Lionel MESSI is to the National Team. He also mentioned that he would have liked to have played a match alongside someone with Argentina, comments on the 2006, 2007 and 2010 tournaments. Here’s what he had to say:

“Let’s hope MESSI doesn’t get injured. Because if he does, any team can beat Argentina. We have the best player in the world, it’s logical that when MESSI plays, we’re a strong team and when not, we’re normal. I said that the day he gets injured, we go to being a normal team and they said I said that in a bad way. When he gets injured and we don’t get points, we beg him to come back.”

“It’s always him, we have faith in him. He’s unique. He’s gotten to several finals which is not easy to do. hopefully he does well against Brazil and Colombia. Hopefully we don’t suffer in the qualifiers. We’re still dreaming to see if MESSI can gift us the World Cup.”

“The group in the National Team has been there for a long time… And now’s a good opportunity against Brazil to win and gain confidence. But we will suffer there too because NEYMAR in 90 minutes will do something, just like MESSI.”

“I’d have liked to have played a match alongside REDONDO… Unfortunately, I was unlucky.”

“Argentina has to play at La Bombonera, here, we would qualify.”

“I wanted to win something with the National Team but I think I did well, I ended up winning at the Olympics. I really thought we would win the 2007 Copa America. I believe we played well at the 2006 World Cup, we got eliminated without losing.”

About the 2010 World Cup:
“I wasn’t on the same page as the coach at the time (Diego MARADONA) and I ended up watching the World Cup on television. I did what I had to do and I missed out on one World Cup (2010) but I grew up believing in something and I wasn’t going to go against that. I think those things were clear (with MARADONA).”

Edgardo BAUZA comments on Mauro ICARDI, LAVEZZI and more

Speaking to the media, Argentina National Team coach Edgardo BAUZA commented on the call-ups of Ezequiel LAVEZZI, Fernando BELLUSCHI and Julio BUFFARINI.

BAUZA also commented about ICARDI’s form and how he watched him score twice for Inter against Torino. Here’s what he had to say:

“LAVEZZI’s call-up was planned with him. He’s working normally, recovered from his injury. He can’t compete in his club because he wasn’t on the list due to his injury but LAVEZZI is one of the leaders of this group and he’s going to help us out. He’s a very important player in the group because of everything he brings.”

“I could make mistakes but I make the decision because of what I analyize and because of what I think. Never has someone on the team complained to me about having problems with a player I have called-up.”

About Fernando BELLUSCHI and Julio BUFFARINI:
“We’ll see if they’ll be starters. It’s going to be a different match as to what we’ve played so far. I know Tite (Brazil’s coach) very well because of my time in Brazil. We’re going to have to have a compact team to stop them between the lines.”

About ICARDI:
“It’s clear that ICARDI has a chance and he knows it. I was just watching Inter against Torino where he scored two goals. ICARDI knows perfectly well that he could be called-up.”

“We’ll see if BELLUSCHI plays. He’s in great form.”

Mauro ICARDI double includes stunning winning goal

Mauro ICARDI was at it again having scored twice for Inter.

The captain of the Italian club was on hand for both goals in their 2-1 win against Turin. ICARDI continues his excellent goalscoring form for the club. In Inter’s four Serie A wins this season, here’s ICARDI’s record:

2-1 win against Pescara (2 goals)
2-1 win against Juventus (1 goal and 1 assist)
2-0 win against Empoli (2 goals)
2-1 win against Turin (2 goals)

ICARDI’s now scored 8 goals this season, which is three more than the rest of his Inter team-mates combined (ICARDI has scored 8 goals out of the 13 Inter have scored this season). Here are his goals:

Fernando BELLUSCHI and Ezequiel LAVEZZI called up!

Hey guys!

Edgardo BAUZA has decided to call up two new players for the next two World Cup Qualifiers against Brazil and Colombia in November.  As Paulo DYBALA will not be available, he decided to call Fernando BELLUSCHI and Ezequiel LAVEZZI. We know that LAVEZZI had injured his arm at Copa America 2016.  He was actually at their last training camp but what was not officially called up.  What do you guys think of these new call ups?  We vitally need points in these next two matches. Will they be useful?  What do you guys think?
