Lionel Messi has made MLS goal scoring history while also making personal history.

Messi scored two goals for Inter Miami in their 2-1 win against New England and with those two goals made history. With his goals, Messi became the first player in league history to score multiple goals in four consecutive league matches.

The 38 year old has scored two goals in each of his last four league matches and has nine goals and four assists in his last five league matches. Messi had one goal against Philadelphia and after that is when the record starts.

Two goals and one assist against Montreal and two goals and two assists against Columbus before the Club World Cup. After the Club World Cup, Messi scored two more goals and had one more assist against Montreal and against New England had two goals.

The Argentine’s second goal against New England also brought him a personal record. His second goal was his 100th goal from outside of the penalty area from open play.

He now has 14 goals and 12 assists in 15 league matches this season.

Lionel Messi had both goals for Inter Miami in their 2-1 win against New England.

Messi made it nine goals and four assists for Inter Miami in his last five league matches. With the score at 0-0, it was a misplaced pass by the New England defender and the ball fell to Messi, who’s effort beat the goalkeeper to give Inter Miami the 1-0 lead.

At 1-0, Sergio Busquets played a through ball in to Messi and the Argentine would score his second goal of the match for Inter Miami’s second goal. The Argentine had also scored two goals on Saturday against Montreal.


Nicolás Capaldo to join Hamburg from Red Bull Salzburg

Nicolás Capaldo will be leaving Red Bull Salzburg for Hamburg.

Capaldo is going to leave the Austrian club after four years and will join newly promoted Hamburg in Gernany. According to Germán García Grova, the 26 year old midfielder will join them on a three year deal.

Nicolás Tagliafico and Thiago Almada’s Lyon to remain in Ligue 1

In a major turn of events, Olympique Lyonnais—home to Argentina World Cup winners Nicolás Tagliafico and Thiago Almada—will remain in Ligue 1 for the upcoming season.

Initially handed a relegation penalty due to financial irregularities, Lyon’s demotion to the second division was overturned this Wednesday by the Appeals Committee of France’s National Directorate of Management Control (DNCG). The decision allows the club to compete in both Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League.

However, Lyon must now operate under strict financial restrictions, including limitations on player salaries and transfers. As a result, potential departures—including that of Tagliafico or Almada—cannot be ruled out during the current transfer window.

Valentín Carboni to join Genoa on loan

Valentín Carboni is set to join Genoa on loan.

Carboni is back at Inter from his loan deal with Marselle but will be joining Genoa. According to Fabrizio Romano, Genoa are closing in on a one year deal for the 20 year old.

It would be a loan deal until June 2026 with no option to buy. Carboni will return to Inter.
