Rumored names for Argentina Olympic Team

Some rumors coming out regarding the team which could represent Argentina at this summer’s Olympic games.

One of the rumors are that Ramiro FUNES MORI and Matias KRANEVITTER could be the only two players who represent Argentina this summer at both the Copa America as well as the Olympic Games. If true, that would rule out Paulo DYBALA, Angel CORREA and the rest for a spot in both tournaments.

The Olympic squad will consist of 18 players, 2 of which would be goalkeepers with 4 extra players on stand-by should an injury come up.

Canchallena in Argentina has this projected starting XI for the Olympic team (would notable mistake is the name of Rogelio FUNES MORI instead of his brother, Ramiro).

The team would be:

RULLI; SILVA, FUNES MORI, MUSACCHIO, MAMMANA; PAREDES, KRANEVITTER, LO CELSO; CORREA, DYBALA and ESPINOZA.

Carlos TEVEZ: “I have a 50/50 chance of going to Copa”

Carlos TEVEZ spoke about his chances of going to this summer’s Copa America as well as playing with Lionel MESSI.

Speaking to TyC Sports, here’s what he had to say:

“I think I have a 50% chance to earn a call-up (for the Copa America), it will depend on me mainly. You always need to be 100% fit to play with a national team.”

Speaking about Lionel MESSI, here’s what TEVEZ had to say:

“Just as you are surprised by him, sometimes he also surprises us. There is no player at his level. It seems like he is playing a different sport.”

“It is easy to play with MESSI but difficult at the same time because he is someone you can’t understand. He is ‘not-understandable.’ He plays something else, whereas we are all playing football. The same thing happens to me when I go to golf tournaments, they play something else, a different sport. MESSI is beyond everyone.”

Martin DEMICHELIS hints at Argentina retirement

Martin DEMICHELIS has hinted that Argentina’s World Cup Qualifying match against Bolivia could be his last for the National Team.

Martin DEMICHELIS, who was set to retire following the final of the 2015 Copa America, had a change of mind after Tata MARTINO convinced him to stay on for a little longer. However, DEMICHELIS has recently stated that the match against Bolivia could be his last for Argentina.

“I feel good of mind and body, but it is a matter of being humble and I am a realist. I have to be aware. I want to play the game with that in mind. The fact is that I am 35 and a half and I don’t know how many more chances I will get. I am proud that I continue to get called up at my age, I am proud that I can continue to help make a difference.”

“There is nothing physically wrong with me, but I know that there are new players who the coach must watch and get ready for the future. The next World Cup is very far away for me. All of these things add up for me to mean that this could be my last match.”

“I would really like to play (against Bolivia). I can identify with playing in (Cordoba). I just hope that I can be included and be useful for the team. And perhaps this will be my last match with the national team. I hope that I can round up all that I am thinking about. I want it to be a dream match.”
