Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni confirmed that he will make changes vs. Peru.
Lionel Scaloni celebrated Lautaro’s goal in Argentina’s 1-0 win vs. Chile on Tuesday. Lautaro Martínez was substituted in for Julián Álvarez in the second half and scored. The Argentina national team coach spoke at a press conference about Lautaro’s goal. Here is what he had to say:
“The happiest person for the goal is Lautaro and the second is Julián and I’m the third.”
Scaloni also commented on Argentina’s Copa America match on Saturday vs. Peru:
“Against Peru, the guys who didn’t get minutes in these matches (Canada and Chile) will play.”
Emiliano Martínez commented on Argentina’s 1-0 win vs. Chile at the Copa America.
Martínez made a few massive saves for Argentina prior to Lautaro Martínez scoring. The goalkeeper made it two clean sheets in a row to start the Copa America. He spoke to the media after Argentina’s win. Here is what he had to say:
“We have two of the best forwards in the world, Julián (Álvarez) and Lautaro (Martínez).
“Chile was playing for its life and had to win to continue. We knew it was going to be difficult. Claudio (Bravo) played a great game, but we deserved to win. I always have to save one or two per game and luckily I’m doing it.”
Lautaro Martínez scored for Argentina in their 1-0 win vs. Chile and they qualified for the Quarter Finals of the Copa America.
Martínez did not start the match but he scored the only goal, late in the match.
Argentina saw much of the ball in the first half and moved it around well, creating a few chances and half chances. Nicolas Gonzalez had the ball down the wing and passed it in to Julian Alvarez inside the penalty area but his effort from close range was saved.
Lionel Messi had an effort from well outside of the penalty area but his effort hit the post.
The second half saw more of the same with Nicolás González hitting the crossbar. Argentina national team coach made five substitutions in the second half, bringing on Gio Lo Celso, Lautaro Martínez, Ángel Di María, Marcos Acunña and Gonzalo Montiel for Enzo Fernández, Julián Álvarez, Nicolás González, Nicolás Tagliafico and Nahuel Molina.
It was a free kick for Argentina and Messi would take it and after it would fall to Lautaro Martínez who would strike it first time and score to give Argentina the 1-0 lead.
Scaloni’s team would come close to a second goal. A counter attack by Ángel Di María and his pass would fall to Lautaro but his effort was saved.
Argentina qualify for the Quarter Finals of the 2024 and they will play Peru on Saturday.

González could be in the starting eleven on Tuesday. According to Gastón Edul, González could start in place of Ángel Di María for Argentina in Tuesday’s match against Chile at the Copa America.
Ángel Di María started in Argentina’s 2-0 win vs. Canada but was replaced after 68 minutes by Gio Lo Celso.
