4. I have tuned out almost everything concerning the Albiceleste and just ready to watch the game, this story or that story, whose injured, whose coming back, what commercial is Messi in, did they bring enough steaks with them from Argentina, how many goals Messi is gonna score…..etc Let’s play.
   I hope the team goes in with all guns blazing, hit ’em hard and hit ’em quick and then do what they do best, hopefully they won’t take anything for granted and keep that foot on the gas pedal.
   I personally wanted Norway to win yesterday given their record in the qualifications since they’ll be better suited to fend off Brazil in the next round. France winning was very expected but their defense in not that solid but the intriguing game was Mexico beating Ecuador.
   I’m assuming England will be their next opponent but how will they perform in Mexico just after they won their first knockout game in 40 years.
   I personally was never sold on Spain, I wish the kid all the luck in the world but how he and his team performed when they met Portugal in that BS so-called league of nation final left a lot to be desired.
   I hope Croatia beats her highness because I don’t want to see or hear from her period.

5. I remember when we had Di María, we played with a lot more width, but our midfield wasn’t nearly as strong. Now it’s the opposite. We have a much better midfield, but we’re missing that pacey winger who can stretch defenses and add another dimension to our attack.

   Anyway, the draw has been kind to us. Just like last time, let’s take it one match at a time and dissect each game as it comes.

   France, meanwhile, are playing like a team possessed. It’s going to take a hell of a lot of tactical discipline and composure for anyone to knock them out of this World Cup.

   • Thats why i was surprised not see Garnacho in the squad by far the quickest winger after di marria… I always thought he will be direct replacement to di marria unless another young speedester emgerge.. I wanted to have him in the squad irrespective of form just to add that X factor and keep the oppositon wing backs rooted

We are playing same midfield of enzo depaul mcallister.depaul 4 years older now and mcallister is completely out of form out of confidence.plus last wc Alvarez was in great form and now he is also out of form.there was acuna and dimaria to provide width now scaloni dropping only 2 players simeone and nico gonzalez who can provide width hopefully medina can provide those runs which acuna used to do it.tagliafico provides nothing offensively

6. Instead of overthinking about france , lets concentrate on our game vs cape verde . I know France is looking so dangerous . But their path is so difficult. Morocco and spain will not be an easy opponent. And so far, france had only played against weak teams like Iraq, average senegal, norway b team and clueless sweden.

   • You’re definitely right! Sweden was just playing spectator and their midfield was non existent. France ran through their defence like nothing I have ever seen. Sweden is lucky to only go down by three goals. Such a clueless team, but the European pundits are obsessed with those clowns.

7. A few observations till date:

   Morocco look every bit as effective as they did in the last World Cup. They may not play breathtaking football or overwhelm opponents with big scorelines, but they know exactly how to stay alive in games and grind out results. In many ways, they remind me of Argentina in 1990—resilient, disciplined, and incredibly difficult to eliminate.

   France have been outstanding. Then again, they’ve looked formidable in almost every major tournament since 2014. Yet football has repeatedly reminded us that having the strongest squad doesn’t guarantee lifting every trophy. Right now, though, they probably possess the most lethal forward line in the tournament. And as always, the Mbappé who wears the French jersey seems like a different beast from the one we sometimes see at Real Madrid.

   Our fiercest rivals in CONMEBOL showed real signs of life against Japan, especially in the second half. Having Carlo Ancelotti on the touchline is beginning to show. They are starting to play like a cohesive team again. This is no longer the Brazil that we brushed aside 4–1.

   England, Portugal and Colombia – It’ll be interesting to see how they grow as the knockout rounds progress.

   The so-called “smaller” teams—Cape Verde being a prime example—have shown they are more than capable of troubling the traditional powerhouses. We have to approach them with utmost respect. Against such well-organized sides, sustained pressing and repeatedly finding our way into the penalty area will be essential.

   As for Argentina, apart from Messi, Cuti Romero and Lisandro Martínez, I haven’t yet seen anyone playing at a truly world-beating level. Lo Celso and Nico Paz were both very good against Jordan, but neither has quite produced a standout performance across the tournament.

   • Romero was okay okay not that great yet actually he looked quite rusty against austria.

8. This french team looks invincible , Extremely difficult to stop them.

   • Guys ! A question plz.Can any body name a player in our current Argentina’s team who can match or go beyond the pace shown by Dimaria in the 2022 world cup final.I believe that is the only gap for now as I am certain that our strikers will come to form in the knockouts.

     • I do believe Nico Gonzalez is not far from it. Di Maria was exceptional so I am not sure if Nico can match his stamina.

     • I don’t think anyone can replace DiMaria, he was a once in a generation player. He had everything – ball control, finishing, passing and even a good amount of speed. He was the best in his position in the world.
       We have to try out Almada, Gonzalez and Paz to see how they do. Even Alvarez, LoCelso, Barco and G.Simeone may be tried out. However, each of those players have their own strengths and weaknesses, and trying to fit them in exactly DiMaria’s role may not be best idea. Rather, we should be trying to best utilize available players’ strengths so that we can build a very strong team. I think Scaloni probably has some systems in mind, but I don’t know to what extent he has found an answer to what is optimal.

       • Ya! Very difficult to get like to like replacement but any player who has that fire in him like angel dimaria which was evident in the final of 2022 world cup .After his replacement,we were kinda outplayed by french team.Finally,we won. Need similar one in the knockouts.It is a bit concerning that other than messi none of the forwards are on song.Need one goal from Lautaro or Alvarez badly.

9. Dissapointing to see a young lad like Michael Olise has five assists at the 2026 World Cup and is just one away from equalling the peles record for most assist in a single worldcup
   If prime messi had any other player than higuin& lautaro who both wasted too many chances messi could have snatched those records

   • Not every record has to be owned by Messi. What messi have already achieved, with half of it one can cement as the greatest of all time.

10. Let’s calm down, Netherlands 5 vs Sweden 1. Like what did we learn from this game? Sweden is an average team with some overrated EPL players who are technically poor with the ball.

    • Let’s call it a spade a spade, this is best version of French team I have seen so far.forget about their midfield, their forward and backline is the strongest.

      • They were being seriously held by Senegal…lapse of concentration destroyers them..
        We had done before…we have grit and determination…not like of 2006 2010 where we will be emotionally drained…we have seen lot’s of moments last wc…
        So pls Alvarez/ lautaro at least one have to score vs cape Verde…if Argentina scored early I don’t see cape Verde can comeback…
        However if they don’t score early then pressure mounts..
        One opponent one win at a time will calm your nerves…

11. Only time will tell who dominate whom? Remember they need to play too not enough being on paper .Sweden was in the bottom of them qualifying group for a reason I guess which I was shocked and I found out why only today. French teams are scary YES in paper but they got to play an against a tactical good team and I pride myself to tell that no one is above us when it comes down to tactical maturity. Any well knowledge football person can tell that what was the problem today against Sweden. They came out without plan just to let them attack without any tactical plan whatsoever. French coach plan and gameplay is still same as last World Cup . He changed Olise in place of Griezmann and add another pacy winger. They don’t look comfortable when you keep the ball as like before. Yes Brazil 2006 team was same as this French team but who did win the World Cup? It was same situation in 2006,whole world was giving them another star ⭐ before even match played. Morocco is better team then French. They play as a team French team is all about individual and counter. None of them team played against them so far was tactically brilliant only Senegal played better against them till 70 minutes then lost concentration and Norway played with reserves team yet gave them scare. My only regret we didn’t replace Fideo but if we stay fit then I can bet anything we will win again . Our defence even more solid this year. I guess we understand football differently

    • France has 2 difficult games 1 against Morocco and the 2nd one is spain.i don’t think France will beat Spain

12. I hate to say it, but I agree france is like the new Brazil of the 90s and early 2000s. Their attacking prowess is too strong, and there’s no team on that side of the bracket that can stop Mbappe and the french squad. Spain could just turn out to be a paper tiger against them if they meet in the semis. Brazil who have good attacking players and England a balanced squad, are on our side of the bracket.

    I can only see one team mentally strong enough to take on France, and that is Argentina, but we will have to fire on all cylinders if we are to defeat this French team, which looks much better than 2022. Another team that may be able to cause an upset is Morocco but the chances are very slim.

13. France is going to dominate the World Cup for years to come. They have an endless conveyor belt of talent. If Mbappé stays healthy, he could realistically win three World Cups. At this rate, Olise is making a strong case to be the Player of the Tournament.

    Argentina, on the other hand, have too many underperforming players. They should count themselves fortunate to have landed in the easier half of the bracket. They’ll need several players to step up if they want to defend their title.

    • This French team looks every bit as formidable as Brazil’s legendary “Three Rs” era of Ronaldo, Rivaldo, and Ronaldinho. The frightening part? France’s squad is deeper, younger, and their talent pipeline never seems to run dry.

      You can sense an extra level of determination from this French team. It feels like they’re playing not just for the World Cup, but also for Didier Deschamps after the loss of his mother during the tournament.

      • The trio of Mbappe, Olise, and Dembele have 19 goal contributions between the 3 of them in just 4 games. They’re already in contention for the best WC trio of all time and will probably cement that by the end of the tournament

    • You are over reacting.the teams which plays well initially in the tournament often don’t win eventually.actually this france defence has some deficiency one good defence and a solid attack can knock them out before the final as well

      • You are spot on.If that was the case,Argentina should have won the 2006 world cup as they looked unstoppable after taking lead against Germany.However, abbondonzieris injury and riquelme’s substitution by peckerman proved costly.Never to forget ,the reserve goal keeper franco was too bad.He didn’t have reflexes and shot stopping capabilities.Not sure why jose didn’t had a decent goal keeper as backup.Anyways,I am optimistic about Scaloni’s tactical abilities.He has a very good coaching staff and we gonna see surprises in the knockouts in the form of formations and tactics.

Morocco deserved to win and France might have a very difficult game against them asuming both will reach QF’s….Netherlands looked clueless against Morocco and their defenssive aproach did not work at all! Yes, they had few chances, but Morocco’s chances were clearly way better and more dangerous. I don’t think France has, that good defence and if they face Morocco in QF i expect them to let Morocco have the ball as also i rate Morocco’s midfield and possession play better, but again if and most likely, that game happening it could, yet again be decided with between some individuals. Though, this time Morocco has better team, than 2022 and they might be getting their revenge….and could go all the way to final if they manage to beat France, which i kind of see happening….

    • I hope Morocco beats France (they should be able to take care of Sweden), but I fear that France has too many offensive weapons and are stronger than they were 4 years ago. Morocco does not have a world class no 9 either and sooner or later that might backfire on them.

15. Forwards other than messi its all on you either score goal or go towards 120 mins
