Argentina to train on June 3 for friendlies, Copa America list submitted by June 15

The Argentina national team will begin training on June 3 for their friendly matches and Lionel Scaloni has until June 15 to submit his team for the Copa America.

Argentina will be playing two friendly matches in June prior to the Copa America in the United States. The first friendly match will be on June 9 against Ecuador at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois and the second against Guatemala on June 14 at Commanders Field in Washington, DC.

Training for those two matches will begin on June 3 in Miami, Florida. The tour would last 11 days.

Lionel Scaloni has until June 15 to submit his final list of players for the Copa America. The provisional team for the Copa America, which consists of 29 players, has been announced and Scaloni would have to cut three players to bring the list to 26 players.

Reigning Copa America champions Argentina will play in the opening match on June 20 against Canada in Atlanta, Georgia.

Javier Mascherano to submit provisional Argentina Olympic team by May 24

Javier Mascherano has to submit his provisional Argentina Olympic team by May 24.

Mascherano has until Friday to present his preliminary list of at least 35 players for the 2024 Olympic games. The list must consist of at least four goalkeepers.

The final list for the Olympics must be submitted by July 3 and that would consist of 18 players. It would have two goalkeepers and an optional list of four reserves.

In the list, the three overage players, consisting of older than 23 years old, are reported to be Julián Álvarez, Emiliano Martínez and Nicolás Otamendi. Matías Soulé and Santiago Hezze have been called up to prepare for the Olympics.

Juan Musso wins the Europa League with Atalanta

Juan Musso won the 2023/2024 Europa League with Atalanta after their 3-0 victory vs. Bayer Leverkusen in Dublin, Ireland.

The Argentine became the first goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in a Europa League final since Jan Oblak in 2018. Talking with ESPN, Musso said the following about his teammate, who scored the three goals, Ademola Lookman:

“I told Lookman that if he scored a goal, we would win because we would have a clean sheet. Then he scored three, he exaggerated.”

The former Racing Club goalkeeper started 12 of the 13 matches with Atalanta in this Europa League, and he only conceded eight goals.

Exequiel Palacios started the final for Bayer Leverkusen and was substituted in the 68th minute.

Alexis Mac Allister, Alejandro Garnacho goals nominated for Premier League Goal of the Season

Alexis Mac Allister and Alejandro Garnacho’s goals for Liverpool and Manchester United respectively are nominated for the Premier League Goal of the Season.

Mac Allister’s strike for Liverpool against Fulham is among the best of the season in the Premier League. His effort from outside of the penalty area from the end of the year won the December Goal of the Month.

Europa League final: Atalanta vs. Leverkusen, Juan Musso, José Palomino, Exequiel Palacios

The Europa League final is in a few hours and it’s Juan Musso and José Palomino’s Atalanta against Exequiel Palacios and Bayer Leverkusen.

At least one Argentine player will be lifting the Europa League trophy for another consecutive year. Juan Musso and José Palomino will try to win their first trophy with the club and Atalanta’s first European trophy.

Exequiel Palacios has already made history with Bayer Leverkusen. The club has gone undefeated the entire season and will look for a perfect ending, lifting their second European Cup, their first being in 1987-1988 when the tournament was still called the UEFA Cup.

Juan Musso has started every Europa League match for Atalanta, except for one, their last group stage match while José Palomino has not been a regular in the team. Exequiel Palacios has played in eight of Leverkusen’s 12 Europa League matches.

Palacios is part of the preliminary Argentina national team for the Copa America.
