A sixth substitution for concussions will be available for teams to make at the 2024 Copa America.

National team coaches at the 2024 Copa America will be allowed to make a sixth substitution. CONMEBOL announced that a sixth substitution in cases of a possible concussion or head trauma will be made available for teams at the 2024 Copa America.

The coaching staff would notify the referee or fourth official through a pink substitution pass. CONMEBOL stated the following in their announcement:

“The substitution for concussion will take place regardless of the number of substitutions until the moment it happens. When the concussion substitution takes place, the opposing team will automatically be allowed to make an additional substitution.”

Team doctors will have 24 hours to submit a medical report to CONMEBOL about the player.

Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea by mutual consent

Mauricio Pochettino has left Chelsea by mutual consent.

Pochettino left the Chelsea coaching job on Tuesday after having joined them last July. The 52 year old joined them on a two year contract with an option for an additional year.

Chelsea runners up in the Carabao Cup this season under Pochettino. The club’s sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said the following in a statement:

“On behalf of everyone at Chelsea, we would like to express our gratitude to Mauricio for his service this season. He will be welcome back to Stamford Bridge any time and we wish him all the very best in his future coaching career.”

The Argentine said:

“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history. The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Alexis Mac Allister commented on Real Madrid’s rumored interest in him. Liverpool’s midfielder arrived in Buenos Aires on Tuesday morning and briefly responded to some questions to ESPN at Ezeiza’s airport.

“I don’t talk about assumptions, I’m very happy at Liverpool. I think it was a good season individually, then we had some objectives that we couldn’t meet, but I still think it was a very good season.”

The Argentine midfielder also expressed his excitement about representing the national team again and mentioned the particular way in which he found out about Lionel Scaloni’s call:

Matías Soulé and Santiago Hezze have been called up to the Argentina U23 team to prepare for the Olympics.

Soulé and Hezze will be with the team, preparing for the games in France. According to Gastón Edul, both players will be joining Javier Mascherano’s team.

The 21 year old Soulé has had a solid season with Frosinine, scoring 11 goals and three assists in 35 matches.

Santiago Hezze is in the Conference League final against Fiorentina.

Julián Álvarez, Emiliano Martínez and Nicolás Otamendi will be the three overage players for Argentina at the Olympics.

Argentina Olympic coach Javier Mascherano now has his three overage players for the Olympics in France. According to Ariel Senosiain, the three players over the age of 23 which will represent Argentina at the Olympic games will be Julián Álvarez, Emiliano Martínez and Nicolás Otamendi.

Two names that will be going to the Olympics are Lucas Beltrán and Alan Varela, with both Fiorentina and FC Porto authorizing them to join the team. Argentina are also making progress with Enzo Fernandez to get him to be with the team in France.
