Carlos Alcaraz signs new Southampton deal

Carlos Alcaraz has signed a new long term deal with Southampton.

Alcaraz will be staying with Southampton until 2028. The club announced on Friday that the 20 year old has signed with them on a five year contract.

The Argentine signed with the club from Racing earlier this year for £12 million. Speaking to the club’s official website, here is what Alcaraz had to say about his new deal:

“I’ve become very fond of the people of Southampton becasue from the day I arrived they showed me that they wanted me here. They always showed me that I could count on them.”

Southampton finished last in the Premier League last season and are presently in the EFL Championship.

Argentina team announced for October qualifiers, no Ángel Di María

The Argentina team has been announced for the October World Cup qualifiers and Ángel Di María is not included.

Ángel Di María does not make the team due to an injury but coach Lionel Scaloni has made a few changes to the team which was called up for the September World Cup qualifiers. Three players are called up for the first time and are expected to train with the youth team.

Argentina national team coach has called up Carlos Alcaraz of Southampton, Facundo Farías of Inter Miami and Marco Pellegrino of AC Milan. Paulo Dybala also returns, as does Lucas Martínez Quarta of Fiorentina.

Julián Álvarez is nominated for the Premier League Player of the Month for September.

Álvarez has been nominated for two Premier League awards for last month. The first is the Premier League Goal of the Month for his goal against Wolves and the second for the best player.

The Argentine started all four of Manchester City’s matches in September, scoring two goals and having three assists. He is among the seven nominees:

Álvarez has become vital for Manchester City. The 23 year old scored two goals last month in the Premier League and that goal is nominated for the best goal for September.

The Argentine scored a free kick against Wolves and his goal is one of eight nominated. The September nominees are:

Almada made it 11 goals and 14 assists in 29 league matches with Atlanta United but his side fell short on Wednesday. With Philadelphia leading 3-0, Atlanta United were awarded a penalty kick and it was the Argentine who took it.

The World Cup winner scored an unstoppable penalty kick to bring Atlanta back into the game. Atlanta would score another but Philadelphia would get the win.
