Nicolás González scored for Fiorentina in their 1-1 draw vs. Lazio.
González has made it two goals in the new year for Fiorentina, scoring Fiorentina’s only goal of the match. The Argentine hit the ball first time from outside of the penalty area and beat the goalkeeper for his third league goal of the season.
In Saturday’s matches of the first round of the Argentine Primera, it was San Lorenzo, Independiente, Tigre and River Plate who got the wins.
San Lorenzo kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 win vs. Arsenal Sarandi. After what looked like a penalty was going to be called for San Lorenzo, the ball fell to Andres Vombergar inside the penalty area and a clever finish gave San Lorenzo the goal and the win.
Talleres Cordoba and Independiente produced two red cards in the match and it was an own goal by Angelo Martino which gave Independiente the win. A pass into the penalty area and a mishit by Martino from close range as he scored an own goal and Independiente won the match.
Mateo Retegui scored twice for Tigre with veteran Mauro Boselli scoring for Estudiantes as Tigre would get the 2-1 win. A great strike from distance by Retegui against his old team gave Tigre the 1-0 lead.
Mauro Boselli drew Estudiantes level with a number 9 like finish from inside the penalty area. With the score at 1-1, a cross inside the penalty area went through several players and fell to Retegui who scored from close range to give Tigre the win.
Martin Demichelis is off to a great start with River Plate in the league. Constant pressure by Micho’s team paid off with Ignacio Fernandez scoring right before half time. Pablo Solari would make it 2-0 for River Plate with a well placed strike into the top corner of the goal.
Five matches will take place on Sunday. Platense will host Newell’s in the first match of the day. After that is Colon against Lanus, Instituto against Sarmiento and Racing Club against Belgrano, all starting at the same time. Boca Juniors host Atletico Tucuman in the last match of the day.
Lautaro Martínez scored twice for Inter in their 2-1 win vs. Cremonese.
Martínez has continued his impressive form for Inter since winning the World Cup, this time scoring twice. With Cremonese leading 1-0, it was a corner kick for Inter and the ball fell to Lautaro who scored from close range to draw them level.
He would save the better strike for last. With the score at 1-1, Lautaro would receive the ball inside the penalty area and hold his defender off as he unleashed an effort which beat the goalkeeper to give Inter the 2-1 lead.
He now has six goals in seven matches for Inter since he won the World Cup with the Argentina national team. Joaquín Correa was brought on as a substitute in the second half.
Marcos Acuña scored and had an assist for Sevilla in their 3-0 win vs. Elche.
Acuña got his first assist of the season and the first time he has scored and assisted in the same match this season. With the score at 0-0, he would send a cross into the penalty area which found En-Nesyri and his flying header gave Sevilla the 1-0 lead.
The Argentine World Cup winner would make it 2-0 before half time. The ball would fall to him right on the edge of the penalty area and his left footed effort gave Sevilla the 2-0 lead.
Lucas Ocampos also started the match while Gonzalo Montiel and Papu Gomez came on as substitutes. Lucas Boyé started the match for Elche with Lisandro Magallán, Ezequiel Ponce and Nicolás Fernández Mercau coming on as substitutes.
It was the return of the Argentine Primera league as Rosario Central and Huracán both got wins on Friday.
The return of the league of the World Cup champions started on Friday with two matches. Rosario Central hosted Argentinos Juniors in a battle of the Mac Allisters.
It was Francis Mac Allister of Rosario Central vs. Kevin Mac Allister of Argentinos Juniors, both brothers of Alexis Mac Allister. Both Mac Allister’s started the match for their clubs but it was Francis who celebrated the 1-0 win. Jhonatan Candia got the only goal of the match with Leonardo Heredia of Argentinos Juniors getting red carded.
Huracan got the second win a of the day, 4-2 against Defensa y Justicia. A goal seven minutes in by Santiago Hezze and a goal two minutes from half time by Gabriel Gudiño made it 2-0 for Huracán.
Nicolas Fernandez scored for Defensa y Justicia in injury time of the first half and David Barbona made it 2-2 for Defensa y Justicia just four minutes into the second half. Nicolas Cordero and Juan Manuel Garcia scored the two late goals for Huracán. Santiago Ramos Mingo got red carded for Defensa y Justicia three minutes before the end of the match.
Saturday has San Lorenzo against Arsenal Sarandi, Talleres Córdoba against Independiente, Estudiantes vs. Tigre and Central Córdoba against River Plate.
