Leandro Paredes joins AS Roma, begins training with the team

Leandro Paredes has joined AS Roma and already started training.

Paredes is back at his old club, putting pen to paper on a contract which will keep him with Roma until June 30, 2025. The 29 year old has joined on a permanent deal from Paris Saint-Germain. The Argentine spoke about the return himself. Speaking with AS Roma’s official website, here is what he had to say:

“Coming back to Rome is always a special thing, but doing so now as a Roma player is even more special.

“I’d like to thank the fans for welcoming me and Roma for bringing me back to the club where I launched my career in Europe. Last year was an incredibly happy one for me with the World Cup, so now I want to keep tasting success and I’m convinced I can do just that with this team.”

Tiago Pinto, Roma’s general manager of football also spoke about Paredes:

“As soon as he heard that we were interested, Leandro made it clear that his target was to return to Roma. His strong willpower made us even more convinced that we should bring him back to the Giallorossi and we’re delighted to see him back in Roma colours.

“Ever since his first stint here, he has matured and gained international experience, combined with his knowledge of Italian football and his technical attributes, we’re sure this will all prove to be crucial and strengthen our squad.”

He will be playing alongside fellow Argentine World Cup winner, Paulo Dybala.

Mauro Icardi scored for Galatasaray in their Champions League qualifying win.

Icardi has his first goal of the season for Galatasaray. The Turkish club took part in a Champions League qualifying match against Olimpija and the Argentine scored the only hgoal of the match to give them the 1-0 win.

The 30 year old would score a volley from inside the penalty area which would give them the 4-0 aggregate lead. Icardi scored 23 goals and had eight assists in 26 matches for Galatasaray last season.

Lionel Messi scored for Inter Miami as they reached the final of the Leagues Cup.

Messi has helped Inter Miami reach their first ever final as a club after a 4-1 win vs. Philadelphia Union. The Argentine scored the second goal of the game, an incredible strike from distance to give Inter Miami the 2-0 lead.

The Best player in the world now has nine goals in six Inter Miami matches. They will play either Monterrey of Nashville in the final of the Leagues Cup on Saturday.

Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni comments on the team, World Cup final, MLS

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni commented about the current team, the World Cup final and the MLS.

Mundo Albiceleste was in attendance, as was Lionel Scaloni with AFA President Claudio Tapia as they presented Argentina’s new training complex in Florida. The training complex will be used for the 2024 Copa America and should they qualify, the 2026 World Cup.

Scaloni spoke at the press conference about the current team. Here is what he had to say:

“We need to continue the same way that brought us here. No player has their spot secured.”

The Best coach in the world also commented on the starting eleven for the World Cup final:

“I gave the lineup to my players an hour and a half before the game, but I knew it way before.”

In regards to the MLS and Inter Miami:

“I don’t think that the MLS level is bad. On the contrary, I think it is good and it is raising.

“I loved the atmosphere of the stadium last Friday during the Inter Miami game. A lot of latinos go to the games. It was great.”

AFA President Claudio Tapia: “We all want Messi to play the 2026 World Cup”

AFA President Claudio Tapia spoke at a press conference on Tuesday as they unveiled the new Argentina training complex in Florida.

Claudio Tapia is one of the AFA representatives presently in Florida for the unveiling of the new training complex which will be used for the 2024 Copa America and 2026 World Cup in the United States. Mundo Albiceleste was in attendance as Tapia spoke at the event stating:

“I would have never imagined when I started my journey in 2017 to obtain a World Cup and now being presenting a football complex in Miami.

“Of course, we all want Messi to play the 2026 World Cup.”
