Hernan Crespo: “It’s very difficult to be Lionel Messi”

20

Hernan Crespo has come out and supported his former team mate Lionel Messi.

One of the best strikers of his generation, Crespo took part in two tournaments with Argentina alongside Messi. The first was at the 2006 World Cup where Messi even assisted Crespo for the fourth goal against Serbia and Montenegro. The second was the 2007 Copa America where the team made the final.

Crespo has come out and decended Messi, who has yet to win a senior international trophy. Speaking with Ole, here’s what he had to say:

“It is very difficult to be Messi, nobody can put himself in his place as nobody could, at the time, put himself in Maradona’s place. It is impossible to know what they think and what they live.

“It makes me happy to see him play in the national team, I would love, as an Argentine also, to see him become world champion. Leo is a guy who has been at a very high level for many years, receives kicks, gets up and carries on, always working.

“Actually, if you think about it, somehow it is soccer that owes Messi. But that is not going to take away greatness. We are Argentines and we want him to be world champion, I want him it all my heart, but he goes beyond a title and he will not stop being immense.”

“I’m glad to talk about Lautaro because when we signed him after we followed him for some time. At the time he was the most promising player in Argentina, talking to Milito we said he could have an important future.

“He is a boy who has grown a lot; he is a strong point of reference in the national team. He is happy at Inter and I hope he will stay for a long time.”

Zanetti was also asked about the Brazilian Ronaldo and if he was the best team mate he ever played with:

“Ronaldo had a great class, I was also lucky enough to play with Messi. They are the two strongest I’ve ever played with.”

Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero praises Paulo Dybala

Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero has come out and praised Paulo Dybala.

The Argentina man has been linked with a move away from the club but Del Piero believes that Dybala is the right man for the team. Speaking with Sky Sport Italia, here’s what Del Piero had to say:

“Dybala has already worn the captain’s armband a few times and if that happened, it’s because at Juventus they consider him to be worthy of it.

“Considering what I know of him, his performances on the field and off, I think that Paulo has matured in recent months. The best show of that was how he dealt with what happened over the summer, his reaction emblematic of how much he has grown.

“We knew he was someone who loves to work and today I feel he has become a complete player.”

Roberto Ayala talks Argentina, Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala, more

23

Roberto Ayala gave an interview where he commented on the Argentina national team, the coach Lionel Scaloni, Lionel Messi, Paulo Dybala and who he sees as a defender for the team.

A former Argentina national team captain himself, Ayala is one of the best center backs of his generation. With plenty of playing experience under his belt, the former Valencia man is now part of Lionel Scaloni’s coaching staff. Speaking with TyC Sports, here’s what he had to say:

“The results don’t just happen. There’s a coach that has a clear message for the football players. Lionel is very meticulous m, he thinks and watches football all day. We call each other to ask each other questions and he’s never quiet. We have a great desire to start the World Cup qualifiers and prepare for the Copa America.”

Ayala also spoke about current leader Lionel Messi:

“He decides until when he will be with us. The important thing is the team and Lionel is just one more piece. We try to make it so that he makes us different and he makes his team mates different. We have to have a proper structure for him to feel comfortable.”

In regards to Paulo Dybala’s role with the team:

“For me, I like him much more as a forward, for him to create his own chances. When he plays forward all the time, he’ll get passes inside the penalty area. And when he has the chance, he has an impressive shot. It looks lioe he does it without force, like he laughs every time he does it and after that the ball is hit with such force that you don’t understand where he gets it from.”

When asked about the center backs who could play with Argentina:

“The one’s who were last there, at times, didn’t have the continuity which we were hoping for with their clubs or with the Argentina national team. Leonardo Balerdi and Nehuen Perez, when they can be starters with their teams will be important guys. Nuan Foyth is a center back. He was only converted into a right back because of emergencies but he’s also an interesting project.”

Marcos Senesi of Feyenoord has stated that he wants to make the Argentina Olympic team.

Senesi was not part of the Argentina team which qualified for the Olympics as his club Feyenoord did not allow him to participate. Speaking in an interview with Ole, Senesi had this to say:

“One dreams of being in the national team and at any tournament. If God wants, I’ll be at the Olympics. And why not, maybe even the senior national team. Not being part of the team which qualified for the Olympics didn’t affect me. There was a very good group and the club didn’t let me participate because the league was going on. Allowing me to go was not an obligation.”
