Lionel MESSI, Gonzalo HIGUAIN, Ever BANEGA and Ramiro FUNES MORI all spoke to the press following Argentina’s quarter-final win on Saturday.

Here’s what they had to say:

Lionel MESSI:
“I like this team’s character and how we always go out to be the protagonists.”

“It’s not easy to reach two consecutive finals. We always want to win but we also have to realize what we’ve done. We’re doing things really well, we’re growing and we have to continue this way.”

“I’m happy for having equaled BATISTUTA’s record but my mind is set on lifting the Copa America.”

Gonzalo HIGUAIN:
“I was calm, confident and luckily the goals came.”

Ever BANEGA:
“We went into the second half with the mindset of finishing up the match and we did just that.”

Ramiro FUNES MORI:
“I think the match against the United States will be an intense match. We don’t underestimate anyone.”

  1. Argentina should be careful in defence at the time of opponent counter attack.. USA will create a big problem for messi and co.they r not a team like Bolivia Panama or Venezuela. They will give a tough fight for Martino’s men..they r physically more active than Argentina..it’ll be tough to beat klingsmen boys in semifinal.

  2. I get the feeling it will be Argentina Vs Chile in the final all over again.

    Higuain with some service as last. Messi is his Hamsik in this game.

    Most of the subs are slotting in just fine especially Augusto, Biglia, Banega, Gaitan – though frustratingly, Aguero seems to be off form. It seems to always happen when Messi is in the team and I think its a mental block with him… even his goal was a header into the keeper that fortuitously crept through.

    • Messi is Hamsik? LOL Hamsik in all his playing career will never make a pass like what Messi did against Venezuela.

  4. Team spirit seems more focused than earlier tournaments. Good performances from most players. Otamendi was beaten in the air several times. Opponents will have noticed our vulnerability in the air. We should avoid free kicks and corners when possible. Cuesta looked stronger in the air than Otamendi. A third final in 3 years is a must!

    • Richard, other teams will get chances against us, this is football. You don’t expect that only Argentina is allowed to shoot on other teams goal but not the other way around? No this, every game is different, even if other teams notice Otamendi mistakes, he will have time to correct them. Cuesta haven’t been tested, it’s hard to say he is better in the air than Otamendi.
