Ezequiel GARAY scored twice for Valencia.

Not to be outdone by his Argentina team mate Lionel MESSI, veteran defender Ezequiel GARAY scored two goals for Valencia in their 4-1 win against Osasuna. GARAY scored the first two goals for his club, both coming from inside the area and not one of them a headed goal. On the first goal, GARAY with a poacher’s goal, as he stook his leg out near the far post. The second goal saw GARAY strike from inside the edge of the area past the goalkeeper.

    • “Sampaoli is better than me”. hehehe. I guess el loco realizes that he is too much of an ideologue and becomes enslaved by his philosophy whereas Sampaoli can adapt if he has too.

  2. As for Papu Gomez – his crossing from left side is outstanding while Di Maria is biggest waster of crosses in NT on the same position.

    • If Papu Gomez is on the left wing and Icardi plays as the striker, they can panick the opponents for sure! Gomez’s crosses are amazing and they come incessantly! The only problem with the inclusion of Gomez is that; we already have three players who cannot do the ugly defensive work: Messi, Dybala, and Icardi. In my observation, Gomez doesn’t do much defensive work in Atalanta and i think he is rather a wide play maker than a winger (where i assume that a winger will have to track back and do some defending). But I have observed that he is very clever when his team doesnt have possession and he does make some interceptions and snatches away the ball. Sometimes he even triggers counter attack in this way!

      • Agree here, that’s why I named crazy the attack Messi, Dybala, Icardi, Gomez.
And that’s why we need rather No.5 + 2 central midfielders who will both attacking and deffending.

  3. This long list is for you Sampaoli;)

    GK: Rulli, Romero, Batalla
RB: Peruzzi, Gomez (Lanus), Di Placido (Atletico Tucuman)
CB: Garay, Otamendi, Mammana, Rojo, Barboza (Defensa y Justicia), Foyth (Estudiantes), Mercado
LB: Vangioni, Tagliafico, Ansaldi, Angileri (Godoy Cruz), Dubarbier (Estudiantes)
No.5: Pizarro, Augusto, Ascacibar (in future?), Paredes (???)
CMs/box-to-box: Nacho Fernandez, Lanzini, Rodrigo Battaglia (Sporting Braga)
LM/LF – Papu Gomez, Piatti, Cervi, Pavon, J.Correa, Centurion
RM/RF/AM – Messi, Dybala, Pity Martinez, De Paul
    CF – Icardi, Benedetto, Higuain

      • Without Messi this group of players are maybe weaker than Sampaoli’s current Sevilla which is PD 4-5. and CL 16 material, and we want to win WC right? Like win CL in club football. Not last 16. With this squad it’s mission impossible.

        • I know you are disappointed there’s no Di Maria, Aguero, Masche, Biglia, Banega. But it’s past. THey had many many chances. We must look ahead. The players on the list are best Argentinos in Europe and Argentina at the moment. So pleas to name better list. I wonder of yours. Besides, if you believe these group of players without Messi are weaker than Sevilla you shouldn’t pretend to be Argentina fan. This is blatant case of Messi fanboyism when someone is talking Argentina = Messi. You just did it.

          PS I forgot Pastore

Believe me I’m not pulling names from nowhere. For example, please to watch some COpa LIbertadores game of Godoy Cruz and see leftback Angileri. The guy is really good.

          • Portugal has won Euro final by collective effort while their best player was off. You can’t win a tournament with thinking Argentina it’s just Messi.

          • With the new Portugal golden generation and the the possible best players, this is not the case with this group of players. OK Dybala and Icardi would be the best Sevilla players, but i don’t see anyone better than Vitolo, Sarabia, Nzonzi, Nasri Mariano or even Vazquez etc. Lot of them typical small team player (Piatti, Alejandro Gomez etc), in a bigger team with much more pressure and higher expectations they’re just running out. Piatti in Valencia (still far from Albiceleste level), Espanyol the perfect place for him, not NT. I see Ascacibar the same type, a small team player, (Bologna, Fiorentina, Torino,Real Betis, Eibar, Zenit Saint Petersbourg, Spartak Moscow etc) want him and Atletico with their dirty, special style. If we want to move forward the right decision a calm, technical, intelligent Busquets-type DM, i see only Paredes in this category.

          • Sorry but I don’t get your logic. I think Gomez should be the more appreciated the weaker club he plays (against much stronger clubs). He is not surrounded by class players like Dybala in Juve and that’s why he has harder task to do than he would have as Juve player. And still this weak Atalanta may pull draw with JUve (2:2) and he is main reason why this club is high in league.

    • IMO we should involve youngsters once the 2018 WC is over. We will have to make a four year plan and go ahead with it. Since the youth teams are expected to be stable from now on…plenty of young players will get their chances from now on.

But for now, I think it’s best for us to involve those 24/25 year olds who have not got any chances yet, but absolutely should. Moreover, they need at least 3 years of consistent league experiences…because we don’t have time in our favour for WC 2018, so these guys need to make an impact immediately. We must be careful not to ruin the confidence of young players. My roster would look like this –

      GK: Rulli, Romero, Batalla
      CB: Mammana, Rojo, Otamendi, Mascherano
      RB: Peruzzi, Mercado
      LB: Vangioni, Tagliafico
      DM: Augusto Fernandez, Pizzaro, Biglia
CM: Nacho Fernandez, Manuel Lanzini, Kranevitter
      Attacking Mid/Wingers: Messi, Gomez, Acuna
      Forwards: Icardi, Higuain, Dybala

I think Gomez will be called next time, but I reallt feel sorry for him. He plays in a position that two of our very best player plays. Messi and Dybala. And if any of those does not play, I believe the manager aint gonna play a CAM…he will play a 3-4-2-1 or something.

    • From my observation, folks who criticize others for bringing up too many new and young names, either don’t usually suggest a viable alternative, or would like to basically maintain the status quo, i.e. Masche, Biglia, Kun, Di Maria.

Also, what’s wrong with Nacho or Pizarro, for example? If Tite can get the best out of Paulinho, Renato Augusto and Giuliano, a smart coach should be able to utilize a proper system with dynamic players even if they play in River or Tigres UANL and not Juve or Barcelona.

      • This is it. Since Brazil utilize so good chinese league players there’s no more space for talking only European players may give best for Argentina. Such assumptions are just no more valid. Actually never were.

  4. Leonel Di Placido (Atletico Tucuman) is impressive leftback. He is master of assists. I know we are still talking about Jose Luis Gomez and Peruzzi. And this is right direction because they are class modern fullbacks. But we should take just the best. And I’m not sure who is the best of the 3 because Di Placido doing great things in league and keeps good level in Copa Libertadores.

Last night assist. Look he start his action with interception and then runs, pass, another inteception and finishing on forward position to assist. THe action starts on the video 1:57:55

  6. Great game yesterday by Martin Benitez, Independiente’s attacker. Let’s see if Ariel Holan (Independiente’s DT) manages recovering him…

  7. Its a no-branier…….I don’t know what the previous IDIOT manager had against Garay to never include him on any of the squads but then again he was an idiot for a reason.

Him and Otamendi to anchor the defense.
