Walter KANNEMANN of Gremio on being called to Argentina team: “I am happy”

13

Walter KANNEMANN has been excellent for Brazilian club Gremio lately and has finally received a call-up to the Argentina National Team.

Now 27, the former San Lorenzo and Atlas man has been included in interim Argentina coach Lionel SCALONI’s list for next month’s matches against Guatemala and Colombia. Speaking with Sportia, here’s what he had to say:

“I am happy for having this opportunity. I hope to be as good as possible for it. I never really thought about if this should have happened before. If it didn’t happen, I would have been another fan of the Argentina National Team.

“I try to be my bst, to contribute what I can and to help out my team mates. I’ve always played as a center back in Brazil but if I have to play as a full back, I have no problem.”

KANNEMANN won the Copa Libertadores twice, the first time in 2014 with San Lorenzo and the second coming in 2017 with Gremio.

  1. Situation of Vazquez is not fully clear wheter he may play for Argentina. What for call up such players who are not enough tied to this nation and we have probably better. Roberto Pereyra is like our Schweinsteiger/Vidal to me. More worth of call up than Vazquez. And if we are opening the doors for youngsters so much – also Nicolas Dominguez of Velez more worth to invest. THough not the same position.

    • Roberto Pereyra is on stunning form at the moment. And playing for Watford, not a world class team by any means! Very Impressive and he should definitely be called up!

Iā€™d rather have a player in his late 20ā€™s, early 30ā€™s but in form to be called up, rather than someone in their early 20ā€™s either in bad form or not even getting minutes to begin with.

  2. Estudiantes – Boca 2:0

Good to see this anti-Argentine Boca team losing. Money and buying are not guarantee of winning. Constant buying brought the team lack of cohesivness and identity (Benedetto also makes difference, Pavon without him is not the same). This Boca needs identity of Argentina players instead of foreign, one-year hired-soldiers like Nandez or Barrios that not long ago joined the team and already rumoured to leave for Europe .

    • On the other hand Estudiantes is team that long time depends a lot on their alumnus. Pellegrini, Gomez and others are remarkable players.

  3. Is gaurdiola Marcelo bielse student?
Can anyone list bielse’s student I know pochettino Tata martino Gallardo maybe
Because they re saying he is the most influential coach in the World….I like him too

  4. Looked at some of the video. One thing that comes to mind is his run from the back with the ball. I did not see him distribute much from the back, but runs with the ball. Reminds me of dangerous David Luiz šŸ™‚

  5. Now it looks like…
    Icardi/simi
    Vargas/corea
    dybla/pavon

    Pity/celso
    Ascbr/bata
    pareds/vasqz

    Acu/tag bustos/salvio

    Peze/kanne mori/franco

    Rulli/rome

  6. Pezzela along mammana are Argentina best defenders at the moment but I hope mammana come back very soon.
Those two will be my choice for capa America and World cup qualifiers

    • Well that sucks then. Mammana isn’t getting a lot of game time due to his injury. Were really lacking in defense. I hope Funes Mori regains form. Him and Otamendi were monsters together

  7. The compiled video looks good but after seeing Meza and Bustos I am not fully confident about the players from Superliga or any other league from South America( I will be the happiest if I am proved wrong). They Must move to Europe and play and perform regularly for good (not necessarily big) clubs. This will not only help them as a player to develop but also will gain valuable experience which in turn will assist the NT .
