1. True that fullback is and will be our main issue. We don’t have any top fullback. Only Tagliafico is playing in Europe and I think his world cup performance was disappointing. Besides I don’t see how Angel Correa can be converted to right fullback. Personally I haven’t seen many successful examples in this kind of conversion unless the related team plays in 343, which I don’t think it’s a good fit for the players that we have and it is too complex to set up.

   So why not just converting central backs into fullbacks. It is very frequent in modern football, for example in France, there were Thuram, Gallas and more recently Pavard and Hernandez. All of them were/are central backs with their club and fullbacks with their national team. Heinze and Burdisso had that capacity too. We have Rojo and Mercado unfortunately they are unfit and will be too old in 2022 anyway.

   • I m agree with u ….my point was if nothing works out than may be we can use angel correa on RB whether it is 4-3-3 or 3-4-3 …..I mean we play possession football just like Barca…..if Sergi roberto can do for Barca than why not angel correa….I also know that this won’t be happening😅

3. You can build good team with players from average clubs and can reach semi finals like England did but to win World Cup you need some extra spark.

4. Firstly, Keeping Messsi’s all contributions in mind I only want Argentina to play as cohesive unit and not dependent on a single player every time to bail us out. Messi consistently performing for Barca and not doing the same for Argentina is because of the pressure that he has to take every time he puts on the NT jersey. I dont want any more argentine player to suffer like that. We have never seen the best of Messi for us for this primary reason.( there are also other reasons obviously).
   Secondly, Champions League success never matters to me because that is not the only yardstick to be a great player. As much as I love Messi, I dont want him any more in Argentina team at least for the next 2 years. If that means Argentina becomes Colombia( which I am sure will not be the case) so be it.
   Thirdly, We all have to accept the fact that a generational change is needed immediately ( yes without messi Aguero and all the other old guards who have still not retired) and we all have to be patient with the young guys. If that means Argentina losses some friendly match let that be. We cannot depend on Messi and Aguero to be our savior any more. Its time for the painful regeneration and rebuilding to start. Only loyal Argentina fans ( and not a fan of any player) will be able to relate with me and hope will agree with me.
   Lastly, I reiterate that I am not a messi hater and this is not a Messi forum. ..Neither I am a dybala supporter. I am a supporter of Argentina Football team as a whole. And the team comes first for me before any player.

     • You believe 25-27yr old farmers from Argentina league or Mediocre European club players or bench warmer like Dybala,Martinez brings Argentina World Cup then keep dreaming like Colombian fans of winning world cup. Since 1990 Argentina never cross quarterfinal like Colombia due to same reasons, but in 2014 core Argentina squads played for big clubs reason world cup success like Croatia in 2018. In 2018 Argentina flopped in world cup because of playing with same players, generation change is needed and i want core Argentina team in 2022 play for big club starting XI. Then Argentina can become champion, no team reach world cup final with players from mediocre clubs like Colombia and i don’t want Argentina become same, So i want Parades in juve, icardi in real, simeone in barca and Dybala Manchester, Argentina have to relay few old guards Messi Aguero Otamendi benega else Peru eliminated us

   • Also to add it was because of Messi Argentina went out of the group in 2014. Between 2014 to 18 the problem is not Messi but our coach an afa who didn’t do a proper transition and build a cohesive team.I am a Argentine supporter since 80,s and I have seen many players of different generations.Dybala is a good player but no where near Messi

6. Did anyone watch Caseres(villarreal), Balerdi & Almendra(Boca jnrs) this week? How did they play?

8. I for one stopped caring about our Player Club Performances. Really, What they do at their Clubs don’t matter at all i guess, Its frustrating to see Messi, Higuain, Di Maria, Aguero especially playing well and scoring so many goals. If possible kindly don’t post the Club performances details of the historical. Gago was an exception. he used to play well for us and bad for the Club. Most of these players don’t even play together apart from 1 or 2 friendly matches in the gap 2 months. How are they suppose to build a chemistry. Germany and Spain planned it by selecting the players who r playing majorly in their leagues that helps. Well in our case we never may have that luxury i guess.

     • One of my favorite players of All Time, Ariel Ortega “The Little Donkey”, Ortega, Veron, Aimar, Riquelme all 4 were absolute beasts in Midfield, Just WOW wish we had someone similar to those now for us. Have huge hopes on Paredes and Lo Celso.

9. It’s true that some of our young players were benched however some of them also started and performed well. So its mixed bag week. I also agree with Gonzalo that if they play well with the NT they will be automatically in radar of good clubs.
   Nevertheless, the situation with Dybala ( supposed to be our main man in the coming years) worries me. CR7 has already started playing his tricks and if the same continues till next 4-5 games Dybala should start his preparations to move on. Being the player he is he will definitely find a good club ( not a huge club, and that is not mandatory) where he will get regular playing time and mature as a player.

   • Dybala supposed to be the messi successor moving to small club, then forget Dybala will be the main man. Gio simeone will be the main man as moving to barca/real is matter of time. If Ronaldo at 34 better than 25yr Dybala then Dybala can’t carry Argentina. I want Dybala to Man Utd in January.

     • We don’t need another Messi, let dybala become a team player and help Argentina just as another team member and not become larger than the team.
       Secondly, it’s not about who is better at what age . Juventus has brought Ronaldo by spending a huge amount thus he will start in most of their games keeping in mind the sponsorship and Tv rights Terms and conditions.
       Finally, there is no such theory that a player needs to be at Big clubs in order to become great.

     Often If they are just called up, even without good performances, still are on radar of European clubs (in local players case). Argentina and Brazil youngsters are always closer followed than other nations.

10. It’s like a jinx, since the new squad was announced most of the players are either not playing or totally out of sorts. Icardi, Lautaro, Lo Celso, Monitor Vargas and the lot.

      The season has just started it’s long way to go still.

11. Caseres is doing a good job in Villarreal.
    Ascacibar, Paredes, Battaglia, Rodriguez and now Caseres, our young DM department is getting stronger. Some youngsters already showing in Argentine primera.

    The guy is defenders nightmare he is more mobile than icardi. He run and hustle he is all around center forward.

    • Simeone is still not reached in his prime where icardi in his prime, noone will reach the label of prime Aguero, at his 30’s better than icardi. Currently Aguero and Icardi is best Argentina striker and simeone as 3rd choice as of now, 2-3year latter simeone will be the main striker for Argentina as well as real/barca

    • Simeone and Martinez are better than Icardi, because you said it, they are mobile and willing to defend too.

      • Martinez is a bench warmer and under the shadow of Icardi

    • No where near Icardi at the moment. Maybe in the future, but he he has not done anything to warrant the comparison yet

Hpy with all the Argentine young players performances…..the hunger of nico gonzalez….the aggression of perryra…few mins of lautaro Martinez his last pass should hv been converted into a goal by icardi…..icardi was rusty….parades ascasicbar were good…..I love caseres may be his passing was not good today but his defensive tackling skills are great and he can be a new biglia for Argentina with better tackling skills ….all Nd all now I m seeing that Argentine future is bright

    • Argentine past, present and future; all are bright when it comes to the quality and quantity of excellent footballers . Our problem is not lack of footballers but poor administration mixed with some elements of MAFIA.

      • Argentina real problem is average GK, poor defense, worst fullback and bellow average midfield. Argentina always had superstars of forwards to still continuing

        • Pezella done well in this game….but seriously I m also worried about our defence…but seeing balerdi foyth nahuen Perez also gives some hope for the future….we need to develop a right back quickly….bustos or why not angel correa….in 4 years I think angel correa can become a good RB for argentina

          • winger converted in full back and professional full back are different. Argentina needs to work on GK,defense and Midfield, Argentina always powerhouse in attack
