Argentina legend Gabriel BATISTUTA says it’s time for Inter man Mauro ICARDI

Argentina legend Gabriel BATISTUTA has come out and spoken about Mauro ICARDI.

After finally scoring his first goal for Argentina, Mauro ICARDI has now received the backing of former Fiorentina and Argentina man Gabriel BATISTUTA. Speaking with Metro 95.1, here’s what the legendary striker had to say:

“I heard him and it appears to me that he’s excited. That he’s doing well is good.

“Argentina are good. Until the World Cup, there was HIGUAIN, who deserved to play for his experience and not because he was less than ICARDI. Now, his time has passed and it’s Mauro’s time. I think we are good there. I like that he scored, it’s liberating.”

  1. Higuain time was over in 2016, icardi exclusion in 2018 cost Argentina when Aguero was dropped and Argentina played with out no9

  2. Icardi is type of striker who can only succeed in inter or real madrid where striker is dependent upon crosses, he will fail where build up games is played like barca, man city, chelsea, liverpool the reason even his profilic form not many clubs are intrested in him , last year chelsea wanted to buy higuian over icardi. I heavily doubt icardi will be seccessful with NT, because the play type of NT. Lautaro has a great potential but not ready yet to take the resposibility of no 9 shirt of argentina.
Those people who are singing about sabella ,sabella was not a genius his tactics was just to park the bus and give the ball to messi, he will do something meaningful in attack with his unnatural talent and this tactics has not failed , if aguero would be fit and started we easily would have won 2 out of 3 finals. Again stats doesnt show everything here like gonzalo said last time.
Europen football has evolved alot south american teams cannot compete with them , look at brazil having world class squad , how many finals have they played in last 10 years? Its only argentina due to lionel messi with a medicore team who went through 3 consecutive finals, again they would have suceeded in 2018 if sampoli had gone through sabella’s way beside always surrounded by 3-4 defenders messi gave two assists against france.
I think some people are here worried about our youngesters than trophies , messi can play in many positions , put him in CM he will give best pass, put him at wing he will give best cross, put him at ATM he will give best assist, put him at the strike he score frantastic goal.
Messi is more hungry about trophies than any other player , even he doesnt want team to be dependent on him , he will always want argentina to play like a team now we have good energetic young players.
Some guys thinking that dybala can replace messi , i bet 38 years old messi can play better than dybala.
If mandilini, francesco totti, rivaldo, ryan giggs, zanetti, romario, kevin phillips, roger milla, andy legg, deigo forlan can play good football at the age of 35-36 then why not messi , he above all and his fitness is above all.

  3. Most argentine fans have this fantasy of messi and dybala in starting 11. They think that when opposition mark one of the duo, the other player will be free and thus create goals but the opposition are not fools right? Now suppose messi & dybala are starting 11 with them Icardi and say Pity martinez. That means there are 4 players who is around the opposition penalty box and when they tightly mark Messi, we can see that there is gap (or no connection) between midfield and forward. Just look at our last year match against Uruguay to see this.

I have only two hypothesis where messi – dybala duo work. First one is let the opposition have possession and when they attack, our midfield should recover the ball and quickly counter it to the forwards where somewhat free messi or dybala can also use their individual brilliance to create goals.

Second is using a diamond formation:-
    ………………Armani*…………….
    Saravia…pezella…otamendi…taglifco
    ………………Paredes………….
    ………lo celso……..Palacios.
    ………………messi……………..
    ….Dybala….Icardi….pity martnz
*presently my favourite is Armani but
wouldnt complaint too much if it is
    romero.
    >the disadvantages of this formation are there is no width to team and we cannot fully exploite messi’s goal scoring potential.

  4. Well its obvious It’s like this “When Yellow leaves fall, green/fresh leaf laughs” everything will have to move on. There is a time for everyone. No Matter how much we love anyone they have to move on. Even though we may not like it or like the replacement.

    By the way

    https://www.tycsports.com/nota/seleccion-argentina/2018/11/21/romero-le-respondio-a-icardi.html

This is exactly why I didn’t want the likes of Romero in Team, these conversations while giving interviews will not help when they play again. Obviously Icardi was not comfortable along with the Historical its natural because it’s another generation. Now he is like the oldest of the new pack. First of all there is no reason to ask questions like this to the Players. These Medias r like Vultures.

    • Romero is addressing my (and other mundo members) critiscm of the shity argentine media and fans that talk so much shit about them. Romero basically said that when Icardi joined them (prior team), he joined a team with “backpacks” that were much heavier than what the players today are wearing. Each player knew that every single thing that went bad whether it was severe or minor, would create a media and crazy fan firestorm of insults and criticism. The lack of public support really fucked up their moral. Its vastly different today when they do not feel the burden and firestorm of insults.

      • Anyway Icardi was not accepted i guess for some reason. It was clear. They preferred Higuain and Aguero obviously because they r used to play together so better understanding with each other. Aguero was good but Higuain? well never mind.. Sighss.

Its a new chapter new beginning, We don’t want this negativity. Past is past. They were great players, they r done almost. Well the Medias wont allow these nonsense i guess.

        • I mean Media need news so they will keep asking these type of nonsensical questions its rather better from the side of players like Romero who is a Senior and Icardi who is a crackhead to don’t respond in a manner which creates controversy. Unwanted controversy. Each generation has a time when time comes they have to pass the baton that’s it. As simple as that.

        • What do you mean anyway? you’re misunderstanding Romeros comment. Ill repeat..

Romero is addressing my (and other mundo members) critiscm of the shity argentine media and garbage fans that talk so much shit about them. Thats the point of Romeros comment, not what you’re implying about Icardi “fitting” in. Again, its the shitty support they received…thats the REAL problem.

As for selection, they were selected because they were the best. Not because of “friends” bullshit. With this said, i would have taken Icardi over Higuain in WC 18 but that wouldn’t have accomplished jack shit under the disaster that is Sampaoli.

          • this is what icardi said, too
“EVERYONE WANTS THE BEST FOR THE ARGENTINA NATIONAL TEAM. REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING THERE IS. NOW, WE ARE ALL YOUNG PLAYERS LOOKING TO BRING SOME JOY TO THE ARGENTINA TEAM. NOW, THE PRESSURE OF OUR OLD TEAM MATES WHICH MADE THREE FINALS IS OFF OUR SHOULDERS.”

Why did he wait and say that till he scored his first goal?
Can someone read between the lines? is it pressure on this generation to play better, because they still don’t, or is it the pressure on him personally to score, which does not mean much for a striker of his caliber, or is it the pressure on the new team from the media
which demands quick and instant cohesion and delivery from the new generation, or what?
in any case he is contributing to rifts between players, he just should kept his mouth shut.
What Romero meant to say is that certain players were under tremendous pressure to deliver and Icardi was not of them. He does not know or feel the kind of pressure and moral instability they were under because of the criticism and demands set upon them from the media and fans

          • Do you remember these comments When we were talking about the pressure on all the players?
WEll, Romero said : he (icardi
) does not know when 6,7,8 players are under tremendous pressure to deliver
and Icrdi said: Finally the pressure of the old players are off our shoulders.

This is what Me and you were talking about

            Ebo November 2, 2018 at 5:49 pm

It was not just Messi’s eyes, it was all of them, even Romero, TAgi, Meza, Dybala and Icardi in the last matches.

oh man. i just laughed out loud at the insane truth of your comment.

Throw in desgraciado comments like “pecho frio” and “club de amigos” etc.

Its crazy. i really feel for these guys. its so freaking obvious – no shit it will destroy team moral but then sadistic people will say irrational things like “so what, thats life, suck it up. shows they’re mentally weak and shouldn’t be playing”..all this nonsense.

yeah..it was all them, not just Messi.

          • yeah, exactly what we were talking about. But Icardi shouldn’t have said it. Id like to hear the interview though..sometimes reading text can be misinterpreted.

      • He did not say what MIK is implying.

Romero is addressing my (and other mundo members) critiscm of the shity argentine media and fans that talk so much shit about them. Romero basically said that when Icardi joined them (prior team), he joined a team with “backpacks” that were much heavier than what the players today are wearing. The lack of public support really fucked up their moral. Its vastly different today when they do not feel the burden and firestorm of insults.

  5. Messi should take retirement …..this is not Barcelona …this is argentina u hv to run, recover the ball, u hv to do ur best…..messi’s time is over …..football has moved on …these days tiki taka don’t win u trophies ….u hv to work hard(even christiano ronaldo work hard in juventus why not messi then)

  6. Messi doesn’t need to prove anyone anymore… i just can’t understand why he wants to come back to NT and loose his peace? Move on Brother.
    .
We all saw individual brilliances in Maradona and Messi. But now maybe its time to see team brilliance from this present (new) generation and nomore individual stuff.
    .
Argentina is much more than Messi’s generation… get over it guys… we want to see the Flamboyant Argentina once again not the sulking faces and groupism once again.
    .
In my honest opinion, i don’t want Messi near Argentina NT anymore.
    .
(Di Maria, Aguero, Higuain, Banega, Rojo smelling freedom once again)😠

    • ” But now maybe its time to see team brilliance from this present (new)” . now when? in 2 years?3 years?
Let’s face it, they played good for a new team, but are they ready to win a major tournament?
I want Argentina to win the next COPA at all costs, like the vast majority of fans and supporters around the globe. Even if WE have to call back Diego and Roman.

      • Also, it should be noted that Messi and Aguero are both still at world class level, its not the same case as let say, Mascherano who used to be world class but clearly a shadow of what he used to be.

Player should be pick on form , not just age. The only reason why I dont want Messi on the team is because the tendency of relying on him to solve every puzzles. Every managers that Argentina had always saying the same thing ” we need to get the best out of Messi ” while it should have been “we need to get the best out of this team/every players “.

  7. “IT’S MAURO’S TIME. I THINK WE ARE GOOD THERE”

i sincerely hope so on icardi but the mids/wingers must get the ball to him far more in those ‘dangerous attacking areas” as we have seen he only needs very few chances to score (we have seen it for inter so many times)-the defensive side of the n/t game looks great but we do have a lot of room to improve on actual chances created…..
