  1. The word of Julian Alvarez agent on the difference between Brazilian talents and the Argentine talents for the European scouts:

    “As for whether the player is ready for the step up to a team like Inter, Fernando Hidalgo suggested that European clubs are often slow to take Argentinian stars which is why he will be more than ready when he makes a move.“All European clubs go to Brazil and invest in very young players without asking if they are ready or not. Here in Argentina, on the other hand, they think they are not ready, they ask many questions and make offers for a percentage of the card.”

    That is to answer why there are young Brazilians in the team like Madrid whereas one of our brightest, Almada will play for a MLS team in January.

    • PSG want Icardi-Aguero swap with Barcelona (El Nacional)

      ======
      Messi wants Aguero to join him at Ligue 1 giants

      Paris Saint-Germain want to sign Sergio Aguero from Barcelona and are prepared to offer Mauro Icardi in exchange.

      El Nacional reports Lionel Messi wants to reunite with his fellow Argentina striker in the French capital. Aguero moved to Barca to play alongside Messi and was devastated to see him leave soon after.

      Meanwhile, Icardi is not getting along with Messi at PSG and faces being forced out of the club.

      • I don’t usually trust these papers but it makes sense how the NT perceives Icardi.

        Guess what, we will never see Messi inviting Icardi to his yatch with his family around LOL.

    • This guy keeps growing for sure. A year ago he did not even look like the best young players for Argentina. Now he clearly is. He will make a strong case to be included to the final 23 (or 24 or whatever) next year for the World Cup.

      If Aguero won’t improve and if Icardi keeps getting his issues, if Alario does not get back to his best, I won’t be surprised if Scaloni chooses Alvarez as his final striker. He has his advantage as he is from the local league. The press in Argentina will want the local league representation for sure.

      • Yes that is true. A year ago he was promising but even I wouldn’t have put him up with the likes of other talents like Almada. Now he is well up there with Almada. I also like that he isn’t one of those blind dribbling entertainment players that ends up going to the MLS, he is very well rounded, intelligent, and complete. He can contribute perfectly to any team in the world if he adjusts. I was even doubtful of when he was called up to the copa america but I thought to myself “perhaps they see something special in him” so I was patient. Even before the Copa America you would often see him coming off the bench for River, but that has to do with how well Gallardo has developed him over the years. He gave him just the right amount of playing time and gradually made him more important until he exploded just recently, which is why now he is a starter every game.

        Speaking of Gallardo and developing talents, I am very happy with the team we played yesterday because 5 of the 11 came out of the academy, technically 6 because Enzo Fernandez came off the bench early (and played well, a very interesting player O
        I recommend paying attention to if you watch River). Not to mention Girotti played the main part in the goal last week which got us very important points. Another very interesting player is Simon who is 19 and is now getting many starts at River. I still haven’t identified exactly what he is but he seems kind of a box to box or part full back on the right side with good passing and decent dribbling. We also have other academy players in primera division in Beltran and Ferreira, and of course have recently sold Montiel, Sosa, Palacios, and Martinez Quarta.

        It is feeling like our Argentinian la Masia

  2. Is there any international friendlies after qualification? I would really want my team to be tested against some tricky European teams.

    For once, I think we should play Spain. I don’t want to play against France so they undermine us when they meet us. A tactically better coach should defeat France as they are only winning based on individual talents.
