  1. Julian Alvarez might have been a stranger to Italian defence. They have seen and studied enough of Lautaro Martinez. Scaloni could have taken some risk of playing Julian Alvarez. At his age Julian could have also played a pressing game right upfront. He is just back from 6 goals. Whatever be the opponent 6 goals is no matter of joke and some of his strikes were sublime. Lautaro could have come up as a sub at the 60th and Angel Correa as a sub for Di Maria at the same time. Anyway it would be the acid test of Argentina. They did well against Brazil twice in the last 11 months, though hardly they looked like overshadowing their rivals. Italy would be a big Euro test. Scaloni should have plan B and C in case Lautaro is well defended.

  2. So someone still upset that Di Maria would start eh? get a life hater.

Don’t just look at it from one angle. Yes Messi and Di Maria are not the best defender off the ball, but they will make their opponents not effective from their left side knowing that if they attack from the left, there is a huge risk that Messi and Di Maria would counter attack them.

    1. How many dangers Brazil did to us in the final from the left? 0.

    2. How in the world Montiel looked like super star in that final? Messi and Di Maria factor as Renan Lodi stayed back all the time leaving Neymar alone there.

    3. Why Renan Lodi was guilty in Di Maria’s goal? He was told to stay back at all times.

    4. After Di Maria out, Brazil attacked much more knowing that there was 50% less danger of getting countered attack without Di Maria.

  3. Depending lautaro more is not good. Scaloni should find someone who is capable as an equal sub for lautaro…One of the main drawback of this team is Scaloni can’t find yet another creative midfldr as a sub for locelso..

    • Oh Scaloni has already found a backup for Celso AND De Paul and his name is Papu Gomez!

As for Lautaro’s sub, well it seems to be J Correa for the moment, which I think is a mistake but I think Dybala will be in the mix if things go his way in terms of his next club destination and fitness.

      • Tbh Joaquín Correa offers more, than Dybala.Papu has been superb for the nt whenever he plays. Personally I would start Papu instead of celso plus Keep eye Palacios he improved and developed a lot, I like his game a lot.

        • Disagree, J Correa is too inconsistent and he’s nowhere near Dybala’s level if and when Paulo is fit, so personally I would take Dybala over Correa any day of the week and twice on sunday.
As for Papu, well he’s fantastic, especially when playing CM (as shown from his performances with Sevilla and recently with the NT) but Celso is younger and better at defending and IMO should be first choice when available.

    • No it is the opposite. Di Maria needs to start and the game has a big chance to go to penalty shootout as there is no over time. Di Maria, a poor penalty taker will not play 90 minutes anyway, so a good PK taker like Nico Gonzales could replace him in the second half if the score is tie.

    • Brazil and European sides has difference plus they were without a proper no. 9 in that match because of Jesus suspension. Plus if you rewatch the match again all the attacking moves and chances were mainly coming from the left hand sides. Richarlison was even in his offside goal was completely unmarked.

  4. Playing both dimaria and messi will make Argentina little weak defensively bt italy attack is mediocre so thats should not be the prblm
