Walter Benítez has joined PSV Eindhoven from OGC on a free transfer.

Benítez is now a PSV Eindhoven player. The Argentine spent six seasons at OGC Nice where he joined them from Quilmes.

Still only 29 years of age, the goalkeeper has represented the Argentina U20 team but has not been selected for the Argentina national team. Speaking to the club’s website, here is what he had to say:

“After six seasons in France, I felt I was ready for a new challenge. I had a great feeling after talks with PSV and it confirmed my expectations when I arrived here this weekend. This is a great club with a rich history and the training facilities are just excellent.

“PSV’s ambition hugely appeals to me. PSV want to win silverware and that’s the challenge I looked for myself. I want to get the best out of myself and the team, every match again and again. The fans have a right to expect me to give my all. I am grateful for all the messages sent by supporters. I am raring to go!”

“Messi made history. It wasn’t his best season but after 20 years at Barcelona he came to a new country, a new city, a new league, a new team . He had COVID. It was not easy for him. Next season we will see the best Messi in history.”

  2. On a side note, anyone seen the plans for the WC 2026? There will be 48 teams in 16 groups of 3 teams. Number 1 and 2 qualify for knock out round of 32. Conmebol gets 6,5 places for 2026. So six times qualify and the 7th qualifies for a play-off. My guess is that we will not see a WC qualification of 18 games anymore. Probably two groups of 5 teams to limit the number of games so the bigger teams can join the Nations League.

    • Yeah I notice that too. WC 2026, to qualify to the second round will be very easy as they set up the group as: One strong team, one average team, one weak team and 2 of them will advance.

But starting round 2 will be bloody. I mean win or go home match starting at big 32. Then big 16, QF, and so on.

  3. So the situation is like this:
    1. Barca is interested in Dembele extension, Bernardo Silva (second option), Raphinha (third option, Di Maria free transfer (fourth option).

So Di Maria should stay away from Barca completely.

    2. 3 City attackers are on sale: Bernardo Silva (Barca, values ar £85 million), Gab Jesus (Arsenal), and Raheem Sterling.

So Julian Alvarez seems like at least a rotation olayer for City next season. If 2 ouf of 3 above leaves the club, it will be better for Alvarez

    3. PSG new coach will be ex Nice coach and another Messi’s new teammate will be Renato Sanchez. Not good news for Paredes who plays in similar position.

    • If Renato Sanchez psg move confirm ACMilan will go enzo Fernandez and that is the reason He just holding back move to wolves or benfica for now.

      – Julian Alvarez has been liked a lot by Guardiola so I don’t doubt he will have more game time, I just hope he settles quick and scores a lot of goals.

      – paredes just signed new one year contract for psg. I don’t know if the new football advisor of psg Luis Campos likes him or want to sell high price, either way paredes shouldn’t worry about likes Renato Sanchez or any other player cuse he is high level player.

      • PSG president: “Our position is clear: players who are not part of the project have to leave this summer, there’s no other way”
“Some players took advantage of the situation… but now, it’s over”

So by renewing Paredes they’ve indicated that they see him as part of the project along with Veratti, Vitinha and Sanches in midfield.
Veratti & Sanches bad injury history.

  4. Hope Benitez & Alario both will shine with this Europa Champion club!
    Congrats….✌👌
Argentina GK position is now most blessed in their entire football history I think..
