Argentina team announced: Alejandro Garnacho, Walter Benítez, new faces included

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni announced his team for the June matches and there are several new faces in the team.

Lionel Scaloni has announced his list of 27 players for the June friendly matches against Australia and Indonesia. Scaloni has included several players which won the World Cup and some who were not part of the team.

Walter Benítez gets a call up to the Argentina national team and is the third choice goalkeeper in the list. Leonardo Balerdi returns after several years and he has been in very good form for Marseille this season.

In midfield, Scaloni has not made any surprise inclusions. In attack, Alejandro Garnacho is included in the team and Giovanni Simeone is in place for Lautaro Martínez who will miss out as he will get treatment on his ankle.

  1. Lucas Ocampos 😂😂? I would rather pick Angel Correa or even Tucu Correa.
    Ommison of Lautaro and Dybala is understandable due to upcoming Final fixtures.
    Pezzella inclusion is becoming more annoying, Foyth deserve more recognition. Likes of Facundo Bounanonte, Carlos Alcaraz should be considered in next friendlies/qualifiers.

    I hope Scaloni is planning for 2026 coz the following players will be approaching retirement or past their prime.

    • Did you watched the sevilla game against man utd and juventus.. or any other game that sevilla recently played.?. may be you didn’t.. that’s why you are questioning about ocampos’s inclusion..

      • I always watched Ocampos especially at Ajax 😂😂😂. He is ok at Sevilla because of team chemistry but not that good. Likes Lamela, Acuna are the Argentina players that have impressed me most. That’s just my opinion.

  2. Each time I see the name of Otamendi, it gives anxiety. the penalty and the miss at the last minute against Kolo Muani. I think the coaching staff should look for another pair of central defenders. The time of Ota and Pez is over. Please, coach please give something else.

    • Otamendi singal handly gave France game back and could have cost a mental damage to all Argentine fans in the worldwide, he should go w/o doubt.

    • Yup! He played too many minutes without any break and it was not very wise on Scaloni’s part to not sub Licha in the finals! The match would have never got into penalties had Licha been subbed in for exhausted Otamendi.

      • Want to see Romero – Balerdi since Licha is injured.
        Not convinced we don’t have a better option at striker than Giovanni Simeone.

  4. Senesi, should be in list. Don’t know reason for others drops Correa. Foyth . Benitez is 30. But we don’t have others good gk in Europe. Musso lost his place in Atlanta. Agustín Rossi bench warmer at Saudi.

  7. Marcos Senesi needs to be included instead of pezella.. this will motivate other players not to join the italian national team.

  8. I feel like Germán Pezzella & Leandro Paredes are in serious danger of being dropped from the team as both had a pretty average season. Pezzella has lost a quite a bit of pace and is nothing but a liability and Paredes has a poor time in Juve. I would like to try Senesi for Pezzella and for Paredes spot try a new young mid as Enzo and Macallister can do everything Paredes can do and do it better. (Anyone know any young mid with potential to replace Paredes) ?

    • May be this U20 World cup will bring out some good candidates. If we are to retain our title , the right balance of young and experience players is must! We can’t go with a washed-up aging team like in 2018 and all the past winning teams since 1998. They all continued with their winning team and hence the lack of motivation and youth cost them! French were lucky that their many 2018 WC winning players were out injured!

    • Midfield looks really good. Will be tough to see who will not start between De Paul, Mac, Enzo, and Lo Celso. Would be interesting to see them all on the field together one time.
