Facundo Buonanotte is joining the Argentina national team and spoke about being called up.

Buonanotte has been called up to the Argentina national team and spoke to the media at the airport prior to leaving. The 18 year old was set to join the Argentina U20 team at the U20 World Cup but Brighton did not allow him to join the team.

Now called up to the senior team by coach Lionel Scaloni for Argentina’s two matches against Australia and Indonesia, Buonanotte is excited to be with the squad. Speaking with TyC Sports, here is what he had to say:

“I’m very happy, it’s a nice experience. I will try to enjoy it and hopefully it will go well with everyone. It was a pity not to be at the (U20) World Cup, we wanted to be there. Now, we have this beautiful opportunity, so enjoy it to the fullest.

“I still haven’t spoken with Scaloni because I just arrived and now we have to travel. It’s beautiful to be able to play with the World champions. That’s why I am going to try to enjoy it to the fullest and learn from everyone because they are the best.”

  1. A year ago some of us were complaining the lack of Argentine players , playing a top clubs in Europe,
    Fast forward now
    Lisandro martinez and Garnacho Man utd
    Julian Alvarez maximo Perrone Man City
    Enzo Chelsea
    MacAllister Liverpool

    • Surely we do have some players in the top European leagues who are moving from good to great in terms of their skills and the coaches they are moving to. But playing well for the national team is a combination of will and skill. Lionel Scaloni made that happen in his run upto 2022. It is to be seen what has he got in store to make the team rally round for 2024 and 2026. Not sure if Messi has any plans to continue to be in competitive football at the highest level for long. He moved out of Europe as he could not bear the pressure any more. We have to wait and watch if he is up for bearing the pressure of the national team. Things are obviously much better in the national team dressing room compared to what he faced in PSG. Still, Scaloni needs to slowly build up his plan B without Messi.

  2. U20 World Cup;

    Uruguay vs Italy.

    I am happy to see this 2 reached final. Italy being out of the world cup and winning U20..will be a great boost for them

    If Argentina not there, I always wish Uruguay to go further. Uruguay winning U20 will be great after Argentina winning the world cup. That will be south American dominance in football. We can say..Hello Mbappe..!

    • Uruguay was part of Argentina in the past and the people of the two nations have close connections. Suarez has been the best and closest friend of Messi since he joined Barca. I am rooting for Uruguay.
