Rumored Argentina starting eleven vs. Australia in Beijing

Argentina national team coach Lionel Scaloni has his starting eleven in mind for the match against Australia in Beijing.

Lionel Scaloni has all of his players but there are two doubts to the starting eleven. Scaloni spoke at a press conference on Wednesday and stated that the team that would start is almost the same as the one which started the World Cup final.

The two names being mentioned in the Argentine media are Alexis Mac Allister and Nicolás Tagliafico. Alexis Mac Allister has a bit of fatigue and should he be benched, Gio Lo Celso is expected to start in midfield.

Nicolás Tagliafico also has a bit of fatigue and Marcos Acuña would start in his place. This would be the starting eleven for the match:

Emiliano Martínez; Acuña, Otamendi, Romero, Molina; Di Maria, Lo Celso, Enzo, De Paul; Julián Álvarez and Lionel Messi

  1. As the regular players of the national team move to the biggest clubs and the most demanding coaches, fatigues would be a more common feature. Scaloni knows that and admitted that in his previous interview. So he should try to build his New-Like-Quatar team for 2026. He has time to do so where he would no be solely dependent on the likes of Tagliafico, Otamendi, Di Maria, Acuna, Papu, Montiel, Pezzela et al. If he can’t, defending the title like what Italy did in 1938 and Brazil did 64 years ago (64 years from 2026) might look difficult. So it is possible to defend the world cup. We almost did it in 1990. Brazil almost did it again in 1998 again. In 1962 8 new players were introduced to the Brazil team compared to 1958. However, if we compare the 1958 and 1962 teams in the FINAL, only 3 new players were there –> Amarildo, Zozimo, Mauro. PELE WAS NOT THERE!! The formation was also changed from a very aggressive 4-2-4 to 4-3-3.

    • I am sure our defense and mid field would be world class. In my opinion our defense is equal or more greater than Brazil. Our mid field can equal Croatia mid field. But attack is the problem. Leave out Messi and di Maria. I think only Julian is great in pressure situations and against great teams. But Julian needs support. Lautaro looks great against low to medium teams. Simeone is not tested in international stages. Dybala is also pretty much like lautaro. Disappear when there is a big opponent. Nico has speed and pace but not enough concentration to penetrate in the final third. Yeah good in the air. Garnacho is still not a matured player. Both correas are not productive for the NT. After Messi and di Maria we only have Julian. Rest of the attack is 50/50 situation in big matches. I hope garnacho can be like di Maria. This is a little bit worrying sign. Coz other wise we will face the situation like defended well but can’t score. Its upto scaloni now.

    • No need to think about too ahead. 2026 wc is far away. Our target should be next copa. Many players could emerge by the time 2026 wc comes so no need to worry about that
