Lionel Messi has been nominated for the UEFA Men’s Player of the Year.
Messi is one of three candidates for the award. The World Cup winner is up against Manchester City’s treble winners Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland.
The 36 year old won the World Cup with the Argentina national team and was named as the World Cup’s best player. With Paris Saint-Germain, he won Ligue 1 while also winning the Trophée des Champions.
The Argentine has previously won the award twice. The winner will be announced on August 31.

City has been weaked with these three out of the picture and if Haaland can maitain his form and even score 30+ goals this season , only then he will be a serious contender for the best player.
